Revenue Cycle Specialist Responsibilities to Include:
- Handles all billing questions, patient portal questions, patient cases and voicemails from parents/patients, insurance companies, law offices, and other CPA staff in a timely fashion (resolved within 72hrs)
- Financial counseling to guarantor/patient as needed, arrange payment plans per billing department/practice policies
- Collects co-payments, deductibles, and other out of pocket amounts via phone or other available means
- Manage patient, insurance, and collections AR by using best practices by Athena or other established workflows as directed including but not limited to: Patient Contact/Outreach, insurance carrier contact/outreach, and interdepartmental communications when needed to resolve the issue.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS (Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System), Modifiers, and HIPAA
- Prior physician outpatient experience required
- Customer Service Experience (preferably in a medical office setting or call center)
- Basic understanding of a variety of health plans including but not limited to Medicaid Fee for Service, Managed Medicaid Plans, Federal Payers, and a variety of commercial payers
- Knowledge of the life of a revenue cycle
- Strong analytical skills for claims analysis and reporting
- Prior EMR software experience (ATHENA) preferred but not required
- Strong working knowledge in computer skills: Excel, Word, and other cloud-based computing
- Basic knowledge of pediatric coding practices, including but not limited to Federal Vaccine Program requirements (VFC)
- Prior Coding and or Insurance AR experience (CPC, CSS, CPB, or related certifications preferred but not required)
- Ability to speak, read and write effectively
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision
- Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines, in a detail-oriented manner
- Ability to work weekdays

$16.00- $23.00
