Traffic Specialist

Position Summary

The essence of this role is to provide a premier experience for our reps, customers and carriers by coordinating and expediting the movement of outgoing freight and assuring on-time delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides a premier experience for the rep, customer and carrier every time.
• Coordinates and expedite the movement of outgoing freight shipments to customers. Assure that all customer orders are properly shipped in accordance with customer and regulatory requirements.
• Determines shipping methods, using knowledge of shipping procedures, carrier services, transit times, customer requirements and competitive rates.
• Coordinate carriers to schedule deliveries of shipments.
• Performs data entry to input job specific information in applicable systems.
• Assists with tracking and expediting freight, including the tracking of overseas shipments.
• Creates bills of lading.
• Assists with freight quotes by determining shipping costs and rates.
• Looks for creative ways for moving freight.
• Makes recommendations to Logistics Manager as needed for carriers, routings, and pricing.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; Associated degree preferred.
• Must have 4+ years of experience, including road, water and air transportation- domestic and international
• Manufacturing background preferred
• Experience with international shipping a plus, as well as experience dealing with customs
• Haz Mat Certification a plus
• Able to maintain a reliable and consistent attendance record
• Experience with Microsoft Office
