Job Title: Manufacturing Safety Supervisor

Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Manufacturing Safety Supervisor to join our team. The Manufacturing Safety Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and implementing safety programs and initiatives to ensure a safe work environment for all employees in our manufacturing facility. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a proactive individual to promote a culture of safety and contribute to the well-being of our workforce.

Responsibilities:

  1. Safety Program Management: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures to promote a safe work environment. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations and industry standards.

  2. Safety Training and Education: Coordinate and conduct safety training sessions for employees on topics such as hazard recognition, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), emergency procedures, and safe work practices. Develop training materials and resources to support ongoing safety education.

  3. Safety Inspections and Audits: Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the manufacturing facility to identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, and compliance issues. Collaborate with department managers and supervisors to address findings and implement corrective actions.

  4. Incident Investigation and Reporting: Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and safety violations to determine root causes and prevent recurrence. Prepare detailed incident reports and documentation, and develop recommendations for corrective actions.

  5. Safety Committee Leadership: Lead or participate in safety committees or teams to promote employee engagement in safety initiatives and facilitate communication between management and frontline employees. Encourage employee involvement in identifying safety hazards and implementing safety improvements.

  6. Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures for various emergency scenarios, such as fires, chemical spills, and medical emergencies. Conduct drills and exercises to ensure readiness and effectiveness of emergency response measures.

  7. Safety Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret safety data, including injury and illness rates, near-miss reports, and safety inspection findings. Identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement, and develop strategies to enhance safety performance.

  8. Safety Culture Promotion: Promote a positive safety culture by recognizing and rewarding safe behaviors, encouraging employee participation in safety initiatives, and fostering open communication about safety concerns. Lead by example and demonstrate a commitment to safety excellence.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, or related field required. Professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH) preferred.

  2. Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in occupational safety and health, with specific experience in manufacturing or industrial environments. Demonstrated knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices.

  3. Technical Skills: Strong technical expertise in safety program development, hazard identification and control, incident investigation, and emergency preparedness. Proficiency in MS Office applications and safety management software.

  4. Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization. Experience delivering safety training and presentations to diverse audiences.

  5. Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify safety hazards, assess risks, and develop practical solutions to mitigate safety risks.

  6. Leadership Abilities: Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others to prioritize safety and actively participate in safety initiatives. Experience leading safety committees or teams is desirable.

  7. Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in safety inspections, incident investigations, and documentation.
