Job Description
Summary
Preschool in the Village is seeking a Lead Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year to share learning experiences with a class of 4-year-olds. If you are a teaching professional looking to make positive change in the lives of young children, we'd love to hear from you!
This Lead Teacher will partner with an associate to engage children in activities that support emerging skills and foster social/emotional development through the use of positive guidance. They are responsible for curriculum planning and preparation, classroom management, and professional communication with parents.
PIV is a non-profit early learning center that offers morning programs and speech language therapy for children ages 3 to 5 years old, September-June. PIV has supported young children and their families since 1996.

Duties
Classroom
o Provide a well organized environment with a variety of age-appropriate materials.
o Foster social and emotional development through the use of positive guidance.
o Identify the need for special services and assist with the referral process.
o Administer first aid and handle emergency situations according to school policies.
Curriculum
o Implement a developmentally appropriate routine with play-based learning activities that support emerging skills and independence.
o Conduct assessments and use this information for curriculum planning and parent/teacher conferences.
o Establish a partnership with parents to support the needs of each child.
o Produce weekly email updates for parents.
Professionalism
o Work in a collaborative partnership with co-lead or associate teacher.
o Communicate openly and professionally with all staff members.
o Attend staff meetings and assist with school-wide, family events.
o Complete annual training and set goals for ongoing professional development.
Requirements
o Must be a high school graduate and at least 18 years old
o Must have a minimum of 18 credits in early childhood or elementary education or other field of studyfocused on children.
o Must have a minimum of 2 years experience leading a preschool or kindergarten classroom, after school program, or summer camp.
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills
