Job Description

Job Title: CI - Lean Technician Engineering
Job Function: The CI/Lean Engineering Technician is responsible for implementing and sustaining Lean methodology and continuous improvement framework through initiatives/projects that support process improvement in operations, aligned with the culture change through continuous improvement.
Job Type: Full Time
Location: Arecibo, Puerto Rico
Length of Contract: 1 Year

Scope of Work:
RCM is seeking a CI - Lean Technician for one of our manufacturing clients in Puerto Rico, where it manufactures circuit breakers used in homes, buildings and industrial applications.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with the implementation/deployment of Lean Six Sigma (ELSS) tools, Continuous Improvement Framework (CIF), and ensure compliance with them.
  • Provide support to OpA categories, participate in associated strategies and events.
  • Lead/facilitate events/activities that support continuous improvement, with employee participation, through Kaizen events, RIE, Boot Camps.
  • Lead and implement project management and Kaizen event management.
  • Develop expertise in ELSS tools, supporting culture change and engagement.
  • As needed, document results of motion studies, time and operational sequence studies, provide input/suggestions on possible modifications and corrective actions.
  • Conduct process audits (e.g., 5S, LPA, Process Check, others) promoting standard compliance.
  • Follow up on the implementation of temporary or permanent corrective actions ensuring compliance with established objectives and efficiencies, based on events conducted, assessments, among others.
  • Study and analyze problems and develop efficiency and productivity improvement.
  • Prepare written and statistical reports, Excel/Power BI knowledge, ability to develop PowerPoint presentations, among others.
  • Validate and create standard work such as procedures, checklists, and visual aids, as required.
  • Update and create company layouts in AutoCAD aligned with physical changes implementation.
  • Provide continuous improvement recommendations in existing and/or future operational processes.
  • Reports on continuous improvement indicators throughout the plant.
  • Provide support in implementing Capital Investment and/or Cost Saving projects.
  • Actively participate in meetings with department personnel to discuss operational and/or administrative aspects of the company and Tier Meetings.
  • Develop/provide training, and good interpersonal communication.
  • Keep work areas clean and report unsafe conditions that may affect employee safety.
  • Comply with established health, safety, environmental, and Human Resources standards and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, processes, where continuous improvement tools have been applied.
  • Ability/experience in leading employees through process events/improvements by applying Lean/CI tools and training.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking Spanish/English.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Knowledge of processes and tools related to Lean methodology, RIE, Continuous Improvement Framework, problem-solving.
  • Basic knowledge in statistics.
  • Proficiency in using the Windows operating system.
  • Knowledge in multiple operational processes.
  • Ability to plan daily tasks managing multiple projects/situations simultaneously.
  • Intermediate proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, layout changes/cells.
  • Ability to develop/provide training and good interpersonal communication.

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical or related field (electrical, civil, etc.).
