Hosmer and STEPS Operations Administrator plays a critical role in supporting the STEPS and Hosmer’s operations, programs, and strategic initiatives. This position requires a strong sense of urgency, ability to work independently, high level of attention to detail, exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Collaborates with the Senior Director to lend cohesiveness to field inspections in collaboration with Director of Program Supports
  • Organizes home inspection visits and pairs with mentors for home visit inspections at least once monthly
  • Directly Mentors up to five families
  • Maintains the repair data portal with notes describing any repairs needed and confirms with Director of Program Supports dates for repairs and that repairs have been completed.
  • Identifies and reports challenges found during inspections and proposes scenarios to resolve them in-stream
  • Accompanies and/or serves as a back-up to the Director of Program Supports on inspections conducted by EOHLC and at other times as necessary
  • Supports program mentors in greeting newly arriving families including, but not limited to: confirms HOH’s and other family members identity, determines if resources for immediate basic needs are needed, provides orientation to unit, reviews policies on fire safety, housekeeping and cleaning standards, furniture and supplies inventories, the participant handbook and shelter rules and regulations, including move out and 48 hour storage policies, and collects acknowledgement signatures and other pertinent documents
  • Supports program mentors with shelter exits: attendance at moves outs and collection of unit keys
  • Adheres to unit keys safety policies and reports any breaches to Senior Director
  • Prepares regular reports for the Director, and other program leads, participate in program evaluations
  • Works in collaboration with other EMPath departments such as Housing Placement, Stabilization and our Facilities Department
  • Participates in the weekend on-call rotation.

What traits do you need to be successful in this role?

  • Two plus years of experience working in a residential facility required
  • 1 -3 years of experience in case management, direct homeless services, or life skills coaching
  • Basic understanding of coaching, motivational interviewing, and mentoring practices and skills.
  • Basic knowledge of case management principles and community resources.
  • Knowledge of homelessness, housing subsidies, and other housing issues.
  • Experience working with a diverse population of families with children
  • Cultural competency and ability to establish effective professional relationships with diverse group of clients.
  • Knowledge of issues related to domestic violence, mental health and substance abuse.
  • Experience with de-escalation, crisis management, mediation and safety planning
  • Effective problem-solving skills, including demonstrated skills in successful conflict resolution
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to handle a variety of assignments and have flexibility to work some evenings if necessary.
