REPORTS TO: Director of Operations, GRBE

Position Summary:

The Store Manager is responsible for ensuring that the Store is consistently operating at a high level, communicating, and executing programs and following company operating procedures. The Store Manager will oversee the proper hiring and staffing of the Store, as well as developing staff members for future leadership roles. The Store Manager will be responsible for creating and a maintaining a store culture that creates a great shopping experience for every customer.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The manager initiates, drives and sustains continuous process improvements and a champion of positive change.
  • Maintains ownership for the store financial and operating results.
  • Ensure Store profitability by maximizing sales and profit margins through participating in goal planning, executing merchandising directives, controlling costs, understanding and applying target margin guidelines, monitoring key metrics drivers, and using P&L reports to create action plans to address opportunities.
  • Responsible for compliance with all regulatory company policies & procedure, internal controls and ensures awareness and engagement from associates through ongoing training and communication.
  • Responsible for protecting company assets by ensuring associates are engaged in shrink awareness and ensuring management is practicing proper inventory control processes.
  • Works with Executive and Operations Management to evaluate and resolve inventory issues.
  • Builds and maintains a strong safety culture by making sure all safety training and communication are executed and making sure associates practice safe working behaviors to the goal of creating a safe place to work and shop.
  • Orders/directs ordering of authorized resale merchandise and supplies within established guidelines.
  • Completes / directs completion of daily reporting procedures for store.
  • Follows established cash/tender handling guidelines and policies to prevent cash losses/shortages
  • Reconciles sales and tenders; investigates and resolves any differences.
  • Participates in store inventory processes to maintain shrink levels within established goals and guidelines; investigates and resolves any inventory variation issues.
  • Understands, practices, and enforces all regulatory and safety policies, procedures and requirements.
  • Maintains store premises, fixtures and equipment following company and industry standards; maintains a proactive preventative maintenance program per company guidelines.
  • Responsible for making sure store is adequately staffed and creates a talent bench for key positions.
  • Develop internal talent through training and provides associates with opportunities for growth and promotion.
  • Responsible for creating store schedule that meets staffing need of store and labor budget.
  • Partner with management to ensure all associates are properly trained and have required certifications.
  • Sets performance goals for associates and holds associates accountable through ongoing and consistent coaching.
  • Ensure store is always customer ready with clean and safe facilities, maintaining proper in stocks and accurate pricing.
  • Understands store specific customer needs in order to drive strategic merchandising plans.
  • Partner with community to maintain positive relationship between customer and company.
  • Create and maintain a culture of providing excellent customer service.

Supervisor Responsibility:

Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes hiring, work allocation, training, problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance; provides guidance and feedback for assigned staff.

Key Qualifications - Education & Work Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Three (3) years' experience of merchandising and/or management retail environment.
  • High school diploma or GED. AA Degree Preferred.
  • Five (5) years of previous work experience in merchandising and/or management in a retail environment.
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience required.
  • Must possess a valid AZ driver's license.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen prior to assuming position.

  • Ability to manage and lead others.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
  • Computer skills in the use of POS equipment.
  • Ability to accurately operate a variety of electronic equipment that may include cash registers or scanners, credit card, money order or lottery machines, hot or cold or beverage dispensers, hot dog cookers and microwave ovens.
  • Execute effective merchandising standards as measured by regular audits.


Computer Skills: POS equipment, Microsoft Suite, Microsoft Outlook

Language Ability: Ability to read and comprehend simple/complex instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write internal and external correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Math Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, quickly and correctly. Ability to computer rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in all formats and deal with both abstract and concrete variables.

Working Conditions: Work is generally performed in a retail/store setting. The employee has direct and frequent contact with customers. Evening, holiday and/or weekend work are required. Extended hours and irregular shifts maybe required. Occasionally be required to work outside.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts are required as a normal part of this position.
  • Occasional local day travel.
