We're so glad you're here! Nokomis Energy welcomes applications for a full-time Real Estate Paralegal to support our remarkable Legal team. This role will report directly to the VP of Legal & Risk Management and will play an integral role in all legal aspects of project development.

Our Vision | Nokomis Energy is an upper midwest-based provider of clean energy solutions, helping communities, businesses and utilities become active participants in transitioning our energy system to cleaner, cheaper and more local sources.  We are hiring a Paralegal, Real Estate to help develop community-scale commercial solar arrays in the upper midwest and throughout the country.

How You’re Helping the Transition | At Nokomis, our Legal and Real Estate teams oversees project site control, from negotiating leases to perfecting title.  Paralegals play an integral role in all aspects of this process.  On any given day you will be drafting and negotiating real estate contracts, reviewing and solving problems in title reports, supporting financial closings and regulatory proceedings, obtaining document signatures, and using technology to automate processes and organize key documents.

Why You’re a Good Fit | Ideal candidates will be excited about applying their legal acumen, diligence and organization to the clean energy transition.  Previous experience in clean energy is not required, but familiarity with real estate contracts and title reports is a must.  This role will work on many aspects of development, offering multiple paths for growth.  Paralegals may grow to manage whole aspects of development contracting, financial transactions and real estate diligence.  If you think clean energy could be the right industry for you, this is a great role to get started.

Essential Job Functions

• Title – Coordinate relationship with title company(s); request title commitments and manage timing; review title documents for preliminary siting risks; draft and complete title curative documents; request and review title policy proforma and endorsements to accommodate financing needs; manage payment processing with title company(s).
• Survey – Coordinate relationship with survey company(s); request and review draft ALTA surveys and legal descriptions; update and finalize ALTA surveys and legal descriptions to meet financing, site control and project needs; manage payment processing with survey company(s).
• Site Control – Draft, negotiate, revise and finalize leases, easements, memorandum, estoppels, and all other real estate agreements.  Use contract management software to improve templates and processes.  Assist with obtaining document signatures – will require travel and a valid driver’s license. 
• Financing – Finalize and organize real estate documents required for project sales, construction draws and loans.  Assist deal team with closings.

Compensation + Benefits

• Total Annual Compensation (Salary + Bonus) of $75-$110K, based on experience
