Minimum Salary: 87,485.00  MidPoint Salary: $109,346  Maximum Salary: $131,206.00   

At the Port of Seattle, we anticipate making salary offers between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range. Offers will be based on experience similar to the Port job being applied for as well as a review of pay rates for Port employees performing similar work. Salary ranges are under review and subject to change.

As a Diversity in Contracting Community Engagement and Training Program Specialist, you will support Diversity in Contracting’s communications, training, and community engagement programs and activities to support Women and Minority Owned Business Enterprises (WMBEs) and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs).

  • You will plan and implement Diversity in Contracting training, communications, and community engagement projects and efforts based on annual team goals and schedule.
  • You will organize and deliver PortGen training events and programs.
  • You will manage, create, and publish written communications (web pages, blogs, e-mail blasts, newsletters, advertisements, pamphlets, social media etc.) in a variety of mediums on various platforms.
  • You will handle customer assistance load to ensure that customer needs and requests are resolved in a timely manner.
  • You will ensure Diversity in Contracting is well prepared for and present at community engagement/outreach events, including personally attending and representing Port/Diversity in Contracting at a large number of those events.
  • You will assist in tracking metrics, identifying process improvements, and improving customer experience and satisfaction.
  • You will support the design of Diversity in Contracting communications, training, and community engagement annual plan and schedule.
  • You will perform other duties as assigned.

Who you are:

  • Experienced – You have four (4) years of experience in project management and project delivery. You also have two (2) years of experience working in civil rights, cultural diversity, or community outreach.
  • Desired – We hope you have a Bachelor’s degree.

  • Knowledgeable – You have knowledge and understanding of WMDBE and small business community stakeholders. You also have knowledge of government contracting, Port contracting processes, and key players, as well as legal and procedural constraints of public agencies.
  • Communicative – You have excellent written communication skills, including ability to write clearly in a business setting and to draft marketing content as well as verbal communication skills, including active listening, speaking to individual members of the public, public speaking, and engaging groups of all sizes.
  • Technically Adept – You have proficiency with a variety of computer programs including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, web publishing and digital marketing. You have basic graphic design skills for PowerPoint presentations and marketing materials.

What else you need to know: 

  • Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. You may be required to work any and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays. 
  • Work Environment – You will primarily work in an office environment.
  • Work Environment - This work will take place in a hybrid remote/in-office setting at Management’s discretion.
  • Grade Review – The pay range and grade for non-represented positions are under review and subject to change as part of the Port’s work to implement a new pay program. This review is intended to ensure that positions are aligned with the new program that will be implemented in early 2024.
  • Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
