Shift Lead - Weekend

As a Shift Lead your main responsibility will be to oversee production floor activities to achieve safe, efficient operation of quality product. Working directly under the Plant Manager, you will direct and assist in the work activities of production employees. You should be comfortable communicating with employees at all levels, following production documentation requirements and ensuring safety policies and procedures are followed. Schedule: Weekend - Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 5:00am- 5:30pm. Must be flexible to train on a different shift.

How you’ll contribute to our company:

1. Oversee production floor activities
2. Monitor and maintain production levels
3. Make quality control decisions
4. Ensure safety policies and procedures are followed; perform accident investigations
5. Coach and develop employees through on-the-spot feedback, annual performance reviews, and corrective actions
6. Communicate and enforce company rules and policies
7. Approve weekly timecards and requests for time off
8. Conduct employee training of equipment operations and safety procedures, or assign employee training to experienced workers
9. Backup plant personnel to operate machines, forklift, crane, etc.
10. Provide efficient changeover to next shift lead
11. Complete production documentation
12. Ensure that maintenance of plant equipment, both troubleshooting and preventive maintenance, is completed through proper communication with maintenance

Here’s what is needed to be successful:

• Minimum of one year supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing setting
• 3-5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in the steel/metals industry

• Understanding the need to learn all Steel Technologies machines, processes, and quality standards.

• Ability to use tape measures, Rockwell tester, micrometers and calipers
• Ability to comply with safety rules and requirements
• Ability to read and understand material tags and production instructions
• Knowledge of and ability to comply with all Forklift and Crane training/certification
