CobbFendley is seeking a Junior Systems Administrator in our Houston, Texas office.

The Junior Systems Administrator is responsible for providing technical support and ensuring the consistent operation of IT systems within CobbFendley. This role involves monitoring and maintaining the company’s computer systems and networks, assisting the Systems Administrator, and providing support to employees. Time will be split between tickets and projects by an anticipated 20/80 split – subject to change based on workload.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate’s most important qualifications include the following.

  • Advanced Networking LAN WAN (Dell N & S series switches).
  • Minimum 5+ years in network design & implementation.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills; amicable.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Monitor and Maintain Systems: Regularly check the health of IT systems, perform routine maintenance, and apply updates to ensure optimal performance and security. Work closely with the Systems Administrator.
  • Technical Support: Provide occasional first-level support to employees, resolving issues related to software, hardware, and network connectivity. Will serve as an escalation point for advanced trouble ticket escalations.
  • User Account Management: Create, manage, and disable user accounts as per company policies. Assist with password resets, access control and user awareness trainings.
  • Backup and Recovery: Assist in implementing backup procedures and disaster recovery plans. Perform data restorations when required.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of systems configurations, IT procedures, and inventory records.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other IT staff to deploy new technologies and ensure that IT resources align with the company’s goals.
  • Training: Assist in the development and delivery of IT training sessions for staff to improve their understanding of company systems and best practices.
  • Perform independent research and delegate changing priorities.
  • Work with minimal supervision and deliver accurate work product that is error free.
  • Adhere to CobbFendley’s safety standards to uphold a safe and efficient environment.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and fulfill responsibilities with integrity.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Mobility within the office including movement between floors and workstations.
  • Repeated motions (e.g., typing, reaching, bending, lifting, and carrying).
  • Communication with other employees and clients.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

  • Most work is performed in a professional office environment.
  • Extended use of electronic devices (e.g., computers, printers, copiers, scanners, plotters, and telephones).
  • Use of cutting tools and equipment (e.g., plotting equipment, rotary paper cutter).
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM CST. Frequent night and weekend work, as well as occasional out of town travel may be required.
