Job Description

Full-Time Certified Peer Support Specialist needed for the Wake County Recovery Court Program.

Essential Functions 

  • Adhere to the North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist Code of Ethics  
  • Attend Recovery Court sessions every Friday  
  • Assist with transporting clients both locally and nearby treatment facilities 
  • Engage with individuals that are awaiting access to treatment, try to achieve abstinence, and those receiving medicated assisted treatment (MAT).  
  • Visit Recovery Court Participants in jail for release planning  
  • Assist with housing, employment, Recovery Court duties  
  • Act as a role model for personal recovery  
  • Assist clients with accessing community resources   
  • Serves as an advocate   
  • Crisis intervention and stabilization 
  • Participate in community outreach and community events   
  • Educate the client on the addiction model and paths to recovery  
  • Provide support to maintain recovery and reduce relapse  
  • Help expand client’s sober support network  
  • Demonstrates positive leadership, promotes a team-based work environment and represents the Agency in a positive manner 
  • Completes paperwork, documentation, in an accurate and timely manner  
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings as assigned   
  • Flexible schedule   

Qualifications 

  • North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist Certification Required   
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license, with a safe driving record and valid insurance  
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required  
  • Must have 3 or more years of sobriety and be willing to share their story 
  • A personal belief in recovery  (Involved in Recovery Support)   
  • Have a flexible schedule with varying hours   
  • Must have the ability to respect and maintain appropriate and professional boundaries at all times to include interactions with colleagues, peers, and clients 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact in a professional manner with clients and an interdisciplinary team  
  • The ability to flexibly engage client based on their own needs  
  • The ability to use MS Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel) and ability to learn/use electronic health record software
