The Role

As a Software Engineer on the Platform Team with a focus on cloud architecture, you will be responsible for writing the backhand of a next generation cloud based energy management system. The Cloud Applications team develops state of the art stream processing solutions to capture and analyze huge quantities of data from remote edge devices, and filters this data through a variety of analytics and ML workflows. This team architects and iterates on different custom technologies and “off the shelf” SaaS services that result in high performance analysis optimized for cost. This is a unique role for software engineers with traditional full-stack backgrounds wanting exposure to energy management and automotive environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop highly reliable software services using modern development  methodologies.

• Create new applications that improve battery and energy management  analysis.

• Work with systems, controls, and platform engineers to deploy new analytic  algorithms.

• Develop and document clear APIs to facilitate access to underlying data and analytic  outputs.

• Design and develop back-end infrastructure for web and client  applications.

Basic Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent degree

• A minimum of 5 years developing software

• Proficiency in at least one high level programming language such as Python, Go, Rust, and JavaScript

• Proficiency in common scripting languages and tools

• Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL database technologies

• Expertise in profiling software services with the goal of cost optimization

• Working knowledge of git

• Excellent leadership, communication and teamwork skills

Bonus Points

• Experience building single page web applications

• Experience with front-end frameworks such as React and Angular

• Deep understanding of queue and stream processing

• Experience with AWS APIs, technologies, and deployment

• Experience with novel API technologies such as GraphQL.

• Experience with machine learning methodologies and technologies

• Experience with battery or energy management fundamentals

The market range for this position is $120,000/year in up to $150,000/year and includes a generous equity offering in addition to base pay. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
