Summer Camp Teacher

Our Summer Camp Teacher will be joining our pre-K teacher and working with our pre-K and returning school age students to provide a fun and engaging summer camp environment on Bright Light Academy's school campus. We are looking for either lead or assistant teachers to fill this role; the role is flexible and could be temporary from June 13th to August 19th or could be extended into a new permanent role beginning August 22nd. Below is a list of the general responsibilities for Lead and Assistant Teachers at Bright Light Academy.

A Lead Teacher is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
• Weekly lesson planning based on the Kaplan Learn Every Day curriculum and PA early learning standards. Don't worry-we provide training to support you while you begin familiarizing yourself with the curriculum and standards. Lesson plans are turned in for review after planning time is given and must be posted by the end of each week for the next week.
• Supervision and evaluation of all students under their care.
• Assisting students with their personal hygiene as needed.
• Parent or guardian/teacher conferences three times a year or as needed.
• Coordinating activities with other classes, assistant group supervisors, and classroom aides.
• Assisting the director & assistant director with designated activities including, but not limited to:
o Keystone Stars activities & procedures.
o Review & revision (if needed) of assistant group supervisors weekly lesson plans if applicable.
o Supervision of cleaning & maintenance in individual classroom.
o Following OPENING & CLOSING procedures as applicable.
o Classroom maintenance, cleaning, and inventory.
o Logging individual student and classwide activities, meals, naps, and bathrooming into the Brightwheel app; guidance and training will be provided while you learn the app.
o Attendance and participation in monthly staff meetings.
o Completion of daily health & safety checks.
o Posting weekly lesson plans with PA learning standards and activity modifications prior to 5pm on Fridays.
o Updating Parent Bulletin Board weekly.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 40lbs., sit on the floor w/ children, maintain energy level throughout the day, have proficient literacy skills & demonstrate positive communication skills with staff, parents, guardians, and children.
• Must strictly adhere to and enforce all BLA policies & procedures (for both staff & clients).

An Assistant Teacher is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

• Implementing the daily activities of their classroom under the guidance of a group supervisor.
• Supervision and care of all students under your care, including assisting with personal hygiene as needed.
• Coordinating daily activities with other classes and supervision of aides in the absence of a group supervisor.
• Cleaning and maintaining the classrooms and other areas of the center according to the cleaning schedule.
• Assisting the director and assistant director with designated activities including, but not limited to:

• Keystone Stars activities and procedures.
• Following Opening and Closing procedures as applicable.
• Logging classwide and individual student activities, meals, naps, and bathrooming into the Brightwheel app. Training and support will be provided as you learn the app.
• Attendance and participation in monthly staff meetings.
• Completion of daily health & safety checks.
• Student inventory checks.
• Assist Group Supervisor with weekly lesson plans with PA standards and modifications for differing ability levels. Must be posted by 5pm on Fridays if applicable. Training on lesson planning and the Kaplan Learn Every Day curriculum will be provided.
• Assist in maintaining parent bulletin boards weekly.

· Must be able to lift a minimum of 40lbs., sit on the floor with children, maintain energy level throughout the day, have proficient literacy skills and demonstrate positive communication skills w/ staff, parents & children.

· Assistant Teachers must strictly adhere to and enforce all BLA policies & procedures (for both staff & clients).

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary, possible Permanent

Pay: $13.50 - $18.00 per hour
