Job Description

POSITION DETAILSReNEW is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Early Childhood Center Assistant Director who will assist the Center Director in leading an early childhood center, ensuring the well-being, social-emotional growth, and development of children from birth to 4 years old. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader who will foster a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment while supporting the Center Director in the day-to-day operations and developmentally appropriate educational program of our Early Childhood Center.
The Early Childhood Assistant Center Director is a full-time, on-site supervisor. This position is a year round position where the Early Childhood Assistant Center Director is required to be on-site and work during summer months. The Early Childhood Assistant Center Director is expected to assist with before care and/or after care, where their work hours will be complementary to the Early Childhood Center Director. The Early Childhood Assistant Center Director reports to the Early Childhood Center Director.
The Early Childhood Assistant Center Director will assist in leading a team of educators to create and sustain a high-quality program for birth through 4 year-old students in a licensed childcare center. The Assistant Center Director will assist in overseeing staff and daily operations of the center, including, but not limited to parent and community involvement, teacher coaching and support, special education services, scheduling, and enrollment.WHO WE AREAt ReNEW, we transform underperforming schools into academically rigorous schools that prepare students for the next level of achievement, including high school, college, and career.   • Be goals-driven. With the network support and your school team, in collaboration with your Early Childhood Center Director you will set clear and ambitious short-term and long-term goals to drive developmentally appropriate instruction and child care best practices to help your staff and students succeed.
  • Provide professional coaching and support. Under the direction of and in collaboration with the Early Childhood Center Director, you will help develop your team members with accountability to expand their impact and prepare them for future roles; you will be responsible for providing guidance, support, and feedback to help your team members enhance their skills, knowledge, and performance, ensuring all team members are coached effectively through clear coaching visions, effective debriefs, and strong school-based professional development.
  • Implement compliant programming. Under the direction of and in collaboration with the Early Childhood Center Director, you will help maintain all systems, procedures, and protocols in compliance with Louisiana Child Care Licensing regulations (Bulletin 137); maintain comprehensive, instructionally impactful and legally compliant Special Education programming; maintain knowledge of and compliance with requirements associated with publicly funded programs such as City Seats, Early Childhood Education Fund and Child Care Assistance Program.
  • Create a positive student and staff culture. Under the direction of and in collaboration with the Early Childhood Center Director, you will build a school environment that reflects high expectations and a positive learning environment and ensure all stakeholders are clear on these expectations and are held accountable to them.
  • Be an instructional expert. Under the direction of and in collaboration with the Early Childhood Center Director, you will ensure teachers plan rigorous, engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons and effectively execute them to ensure all students are working with content aligned to the appropriate standards for their subject and grade. ● Use data all day, every day. Under the direction of and in collaboration with the Early Childhood Center Director, you, the leadership team, and teachers will assess qualitative and quantitative student data in order to draw insightful conclusions from it and adjust instruction as necessary.
  • Communicate and collaborate. Under the direction of and in collaboration with the Early Childhood Center Director, you will be responsible for regularly communicating and collaborating with parents and staff to ensure each student is making strong academic and social progress; you will assume shared responsibility for all students’ success.
  • Be flexible and innovative. You will be flexible in ensuring the strategies you implement best meet staff and students’ needs, and if not, adjust course; you will help invent, refine, and imagine practices and policies to successfully meet all our students’ and staffs’ needs.
  • Reflect. We believe that all staff can improve in meaningful, measurable, and significant ways through great coaching. To that end, you will view feedback as a tool to improve and will receive coaching to help prepare you and the staff and thus, the students, for greater success.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's level degree preferred
  • At least three years of effective teaching experience in early learning/childhood education required; this includes PK-3/4, infants and toddlers
  • Experience working in a licensed early learning/childhood center required
  • An early childhood ancillary certificate and one year of experience in teaching or care in a licensed early learning center or comparable setting, subject to approval by the department;
  • Experience working with young children with exceptional needs
  • Experience with direct management of adults and a leading successful team
  • Experience coaching adults
  • Knowledge of early childhood curricula- Frog Street Press, Creative Curriculum, and Teaching Strategies Gold
