Salary: Salary varies based on placement within the Non-Certified Compensation Schedule (based on directly related work experience, education level and training - salary range is from $30,385 to $50,470)

POSITION:                             Learning Coach

 

EMPLOYER:                          Student Choice High School (Kroc Campus)
 
SUPERVISOR:                       Primary Supervisor - Principal; (District Department Oversight- Administrator for 

                                                Academic Programs)

 

FLSA STATUS:                       Exempt


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 

  • Salary varies based on placement within the Compensation Schedule (pay range between $30,385 - $50,470 depending on [directly related] work experience and/or level of education).
  • Full-time employment equivalent to 12 Months/225 work days (Work Calendar A).
  • Part-time employment can vary based on availability of up to 20 hours per week. 


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: 

  • Full-time employees receive benefits to include:


  • Elective participation in ASRS (Arizona State Retirement System);

  • $250 monthly, employer-paid contribution to an HSA account;
  • Short-term disability coverage;
  • $50,000 Term Life Insurance policy.


  • This is an on-site position with eligibility for temporary telework based on eligible criteria noted in the Employee Handbook and prior approval by the Supervisor.


  • For positions outside Maricopa County, travel and overnight stay could be required for participation in district-level, onsite professional development, training, and meetings at designated locations within the Greater Phoenix area. (Compensation will be provided for travel, food, and lodging).


JOB SUMMARY:  The role of the Learning Coach at Student Choice High School serves alongside leadership and staff as a champion for students needing wrap-around services and an alternative pathway to their high school diploma.  This is a dynamic individual that values alternative education and who strongly advocates for under-privileged and under-served youth and young adults. The Learning Coach will support students in the online curriculum to progress through high school courses and acquire skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible individuals.

Additionally, utilizing the National Alternative Education Association’s Exemplary Practices as the standard for excellence, the Learning Coach promotes and enhances the overall mission, vision, and culture of the organization; engages in professional development and program evaluation with all stakeholders to foster continuous improvement; adheres to all policies and procedures benefiting the success of the organization and all stakeholders; performs tasks in the development and continuous implementation of a high school program, which promotes the educational well-being of each student in the school. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists the Teacher of Record to oversee and manage courses in the LMS (Learning Management System).
  • Monitors, supports, and/or instructs assigned courses virtually and/or on-site in the location and at the time designated.
  • Guides the learning process, through the use of established clear objectives, toward the achievement of district curriculum goals and state standards.
  • Assesses student accomplishments on a regular basis and provides evidence of progress as required.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Creates a positive and nurturing class environment that is developmentally appropriate and conducive to learning.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Collaborates frequently with the staff to ensure student academic and social/emotional needs are being met.
  • Attends staff, professional development, and PLC (Professional Learning Community) meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  • Makes provision to be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the regular instructional day when such encounters are required or requested under reasonable terms.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Demonstrates professional conduct and ethical practices related to the field.
  • Supports the philosophy, core values, mission and vision of Student Choice.
  • Works as part of a collaborative District/Campus team and projects collegiality and ability to inspire trust.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:


  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of applicable District and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, vendors, students, parents, the general public, and others having business with the school district.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  

  • Valid AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Experience in using various computers and computer programs.
  • Desire to positively impact adolescents and young adults.
  • Professional experience.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Counseling, Psychology, Seminary, or any field related to mentoring youth and young adults. 
  • Bilingual


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
