Job Description

SUMMARY

The Maintenance/Parts Clerk is responsible for performing warehousing, parts room, and inventory related duties with a high degree of proficiency and accuracy. Duties include receiving, storing, handling, packaging, shipping, delivery, documenting and counting of inventory, and controlling inventory and equipment. Parts Clerks must maintain orderly parts storage areas: cleaning floor, shelving, bins, isle ways, docks, and work areas. They will participate in care and light servicing of inventory handling equipment—assembling, modifying, and labeling storage racks, bins, cabinets, etc.—and comply with office procedures and routines. Parts Clerks have some latitude for independent action within established guidelines.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Close coordination and cooperation with co-workers, vendors, supervisory personnel, and parts room customers,
  • Receiving, counting, storing, and issuance of parts and inventory,
  • Packaging, preparing, and transport of inventory for shipment,
  • Initiation, signing, and review of various inventory documents to assure inventory accuracy and improved logistical support,
  • Researching, investigating, coordinating, and resolving part material discrepancies and taking appropriate action within proscribed guidelines,
  • Careful and safe operation of a variety of manual and self-propelled material handling equipment, including pallet trucks, hand trucks, forklifts, manual wire bailer equipment,
  • Simple, routine maintenance of material handling equipment,
  • Maintaining inventory balances, document retention, material receiving, transferring, sorting, shipping, and handling,
  • Assemble, modify, and rearrange parts room storage equipment—including racks, bins, and small parts cabinet,
  • Maintaining accurate manual and electronic records, files, storage locations and storage labels,
  • Operating display devices, label makers, and over standard office equipment,
  • Perform mathematical computations, fraction conversions, and standard measurement conversions as required,
  • Operating vehicle safely to ensure timely pick-ups or deliveries of parts as needed while obeying the law and speed limit.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ year(s) of inventory or parts maintenance experience preferred
  • 2+ years experience with diverse maintenance parts inventories in a large scale, industrial environment
  • 2+ years experience operating commercial material handling equipment
  • 1+ year(s) experience preparing and maintaining various inventory sheets
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision required
  • Knowledge of standard inventory and parts/warehouse practices including inventory receiving practices, efficient material storage, inventory-related report preparation and maintenance, material handling equipment operation and other related duties
  • Ability to operate safely input devices, label makers, facility machines and small hand tools
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook with an ability to type 25 wpm
  • The ability to adapt to new maintenance software, procedures, guidelines, and practices
  • Ability to identify and locate a variety of parts and supplies
  • Basic math, writing, and computer skills
  • Ability to coordinate activities courteously, closely, and effectively with co-workers, supervisors, vendors, and internal customers
  • Ability to communicate via telephone with clear speech, pleasant tone, and proper etiquette
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
