Job Title: Inventory Control Supervisor

Department: Production Control

Reports To: PC Manager

Direct Reports: Assigned hourly staff

Status: Exempt


Job Summary:

The Inventory Control Supervisor manages inventory levels and ensures its accuracy within the supply chain. This position is responsible for analyzing inventory data, identifying variances, trends, and implementing strategies to optimize inventory levels while minimizing costs and maximizing efficiency. Also responsible for managing the Kanban process within the organization as a system to maintain inventory accuracy and finished goods levels.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

· Issue inventory classification (A, B, C) and update the cycle count schedule based on it.

· Analyze inventory levels and trends to identify variances and opportunities for improvement.

· Investigate root causes of inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.

· Utilize inventory management software and tools to track inventory movements and analyze data.

· Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy and minimize discrepancies.

· Develop and maintain inventory reports, including stock levels, turnover rates, and aging inventory.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including purchasing, finance, logistics, and production, to optimize inventory management processes.

· Recommend adjustments to inventory levels based on demand forecasts, seasonality, and market trends.

· Monitor and report on inventory performance metrics, such as fill rate, stockouts, turns, and excess inventory.

· Implement inventory control procedures to prevent shrinkage, obsolescence, and stockouts.

· Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging technologies in inventory management.

· Monitor BOM accuracy for proper inventory variance tracking.

· Monitor that ECI, ECR and ECN are properly implemented, and adjustments are made when applicable.

· Compare performance between the different data collection systems MATEC VS QAD vs KANBAN backflush.

· Calculate KANBAN loop size based on safety inventory policy and customer requirements. Perform periodic reviews and updates.

· Keep record of KANBAN trends by shift and user for proper implementation of action plans.

· Coordinate physical inventories from preparation through execution and analysis.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

· Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Manufacturing, or related field. Graduate degree a plus.

· More than 5 years of experience in lieu of bachelor’s degree.

Experience:

· Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience managing supply chain, MRP/ERP, Inventory Control and Analysis, Cycle Count and root cause analysis

· Experience supervising and leading people .

· Ample experience in supply chain management mainly in inventory control and variance analysis.

· Experience with Kanban process as a tool for production and inventory management.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

APICS certification is a plus

Computer Skills:

· Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel (advanced level), PowerPoint, Teams and in the use of e-mail, web browser applications.

Mathematical Abilities:

· Intermediate-advanced math skills.

Analytical or Reasoning Abilities:

· Strong analytical, planning skills and critical thinking ability required with orientation for continuous improvement.

· Ability to understand and follow written technical procedures/instructions.

· Ability to effectively prepare business and technical documentation such as procedures, reports, presentations, etc.

Communication Skills: (Writing, Foreign Language, Reasoning)

· Ability to read, write and speak English.

· Highly effective, articulate communication skills (verbal & written) with strong interpersonal effectiveness and the ability to work with all levels in the organization and across cultures.

· Able to debate at all levels.

· Bilingual English-Spanish preferred

· Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work.

· Strong attention to detail and ability to effectively manage a variety of projects, tasks, and people.

· Takes initiative, approaches others in a positive and constructive manner, and works well independently to achieve results.


Physical Requirements:

· 75% of the time will be spent doing desk related work on a computer and working with basic office equipment (PC, fax and printer, phones) while the remaining 25% will be spent on the production floor completing work related to the position.

· Must be able to lift 25 pounds individually and team lift 50 pounds.

· Must be able to perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures without endangering the health or safety of self or others. Must wear all personal protective equipment where required.
