Title: Accounts Receivable Specialist
Department: Accounting
Position Starting Rate: $22.00 Hourly
Schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Summary: Responsible for maintaining accurate customer records, by properly researching and applying incoming payments including wires and responding to customer inquiries regarding their account.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process daily incoming mail on a timely basis including any research.
- Accurately posting check batches and preparing checks for transport to bank.
- Respond to customer inquiries via phone and email.
- Process debit and credit memos.
- Process miscellaneous billings including confirm billing, drop ships, freight billing.
- Research customer accounts to determine if any adjustments are necessary, including customer refunds.
- Research and respond to past due accounts.
- Run proper reporting tools to assist in analysis of accounts including aged trial balance.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate customer records.
- Cross train in other department functions (credit & collections, accounts payable)
Education and/or Experience:
- AS degree in accounting or equivalent job-related experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Minimum Requirement for this Job:
- Strong math skills (+, -, x, /, %).
- Good computer and Microsoft suite knowledge and skills especially proficient in Excel.
- Strong verbal communication skills and telephone manners.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to review data, draw conclusions and make suggestions based on data.
