Counselor Technician

Gateway Rehab Center has a dynamic opportunity for a Counselor Technician opening at our Washington, PA, Lighthouse for Men Halfway House. In this role, you will facilitate programming and assure the integrity of the therapeutic milieu. This is 4 days per week/10 hour shifts. This position requires mandatory staffing coverage when necessary to provide a safe treatment environment for residents.

Responsibilities:

• Facilitates discussion groups and activities.
• Monitors patient behavior.
• Conducts handbook orientation.
• Assists with phone calls to family members/friends and referral sources.
• Assists with crises intervention.
• Transports patients to meetings.
• Documents involvement with patients in progress notes.
• Collects urine and completes paperwork for drug screening as necessary.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Knowledge of 12 step programs and/or addictions preferred.

• High school diploma or GED

Preferred Requirements:

• Some college

Additional Requirements:

• A valid driver's license and favorable driving record required.
• Pass PA Criminal History Record Check
• Obtain PA Childline and FBI clearances.
• Pass Drug Screen
• TB Test
• Must be at least 18 months in recovery from substance dependence.

Work Conditions:

• Must be flexible regarding work hours. 3 - 10 hours, 1 afternoon and a Friday shift.
• Favorable working conditions.
• Required to remain awake and alert while on duty.
• Minimal physical demand.
• Moderate mental demands to respond to patients' simultaneous requests.
