Paralegal

Job Summary

The Paralegal is responsible for facilitating correspondence to courts, clients, and financial institutions through the Trust and Probate administration process for decedent’s estates, guardianships, and conservatorships.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Drafts correspondences to courts and clients, including court forms which may include: Probate Application, Inventory, Accountings, and others as required.
• Files court forms, obtains Tax ID numbers, serves documents, and schedules hearings for attorneys.
• Drafts correspondence to financial institutions as part of the asset liquidation process.
• Maintains and organizes client files, responds to phone calls and emails, and schedules client meetings.
• Attends client meetings to discuss family dynamics, review estate assets, explain documents, and obtain client signatures.
• Meets strict deadlines. Produces error-free work.
• Responds to creditors and claims against estates.
• Notarizes documents as needed.

Education and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
• Minimum of two years of paralegal or related experience.
• Minimum of one year of probate experience preferred.
• Proficient in all Microsoft office programs.
• Ability to complete tasks in an accurate and efficient manner, and the ability to multi-task while meeting strict deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to apply interpersonal skills at all levels, from high levels of court personnel to elderly clients experiencing grief.
