EXECUTIVE SEARCH
The Nautical Group is a retained search firm partnering with clients to identify and recruit outstanding individuals capable of serving in key disciplines. We are currently assisting our client in their search for a staff accountant.
Reporting to the controller, the staff accountant will be a key member of the accounting team and will provide broad support to the overall financial operations of the business. This role will also help create and implement sound accounting practices and policies, helping to shape the financial strategy of a growing business, and building a career with an exciting, high-growth organization.
Responsibilities:
· Prepare statements reconciliation, vendor payments, and analysis of the company revenue and expenses
· Assist in the preparation, review, and analysis of financial statements for all entities
· Identify, analyze, and communicate budgeted versus actual results
· Maintain general ledger in accordance with GAAP guidelines for all entities
· Assist in the month-end and year-end close and consolidation processes
· Follow and enforce accounting policies and procedures; help establish system controls
· Reconcile intercompany balances for all entities
· Support all accounting activities associated with acquisitions (e.g., journal entries)
· Reconcile subsidiary ledgers (i.e. AP, AR, cash modules)
· Reconcile payroll information for input into the ledger
· Support system implementation and other transformation activities from a finance, payroll, and accounting perspective
Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a minimum of 2 years accounting experience
• Must be able to use and acquire knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation
• Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and QuickBooks Online
• Experience interacting with Senior Management, including CFO and CEO
• Proven technical accounting skills, ideally in middle-market organizations
• Demonstrated proficiency in ERP systems
• Ability to identify process and efficiency improvements, and communicate them to senior leadership
• Passion for building new systems and processes, and ready acceptance of change
• Ability to manage large volumes of data through general ledger and financial statement preparation in a multiple company environments
• Desire to help build strong foundational practices and policies, and grow with the organization
• Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
• Must demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness to ensure quality performance
• Ability to balance a keen attention to detail with an understanding of the bigger picture
• Well-organized, pro-active, and detail-oriented; ability to multi-task meet to aggressive deadlines
