Mechanic

Seeking a skilled mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repair, and service of construction equipment and motor vehicles in our shop and on construction project sites. Delivery of equipment and construction materials/supplies is also part of the job.

This hands-on role requires strong mechanical knowledge and the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues.

Responsibilities:

• Perform general and preventative maintenance (oil, filter, tire) on all equipment and automobiles
• Diagnose and repair issues in engines, hydraulics, brakes, transmission, steering, and other systems – may be called on to perform duties on a job site
• Conduct inspections to identify potential problems or safety concerns - ensure critical parts are checked and tested
• Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed
• Advise company owner on large-scale repair costs and options
• Manage larger-scale repairs/maintenance with appropriate companies/repair shops
• Advise worksite foremen on 'good, better, best' solutions and collaborate on repair schedules to ensure safety and minimize equipment downtime
• Coordinate with job site foremen to determine repair/maintenance priorities
• Maintain safe and proper operation of shop tools
• Demonstrate time management, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Maintain a clean and safe workplace
• Be adaptable to changing priorities determined by our project schedule
• Represents SportsTurf in a professional manner

Requirements:

• Valid state-issued driver’s license with good driving record – CDL a plus
• Proven experience as a mechanic with previous experience working on internal combustion engines (gas and diesel), electrical systems, hydraulics
• Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of vehicle systems
• Understanding of basic welding techniques
• Ability to operate all types of construction equipment and vehicles
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

The pay scale is dependent on experience.
