Job Description
RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGIST

HOURS: Part-time - Monday-Friday, no evenings or weekends

Salary range - $30.00- $37.00/hour

POSITION SUMMARY: This position serves the patients and providers by using the appropriate radiology equipment/settings to make clinically diagnostic x-ray images as directed by providers.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination for operation of all department equipment. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Assists patients weighing up to 400 pounds to place them in appropriate positions for operation of equipment. Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 to operate equipment and review x-rays. Must be able to stand and ambulate 70% to 80% of your shift.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to communicable diseases, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Position patients and adjusts equipment for taking quality x-rays following established procedures.
  • Instruct patients regarding procedures to obtain optimal studies.
  • Follow prescribed safety standards in operating all required radiologic equipment; practicing ALARA guidelines at all times
  • Examine radiologic images for properties such as density, contrast, definition and motion.
  • Insure equipment is in working order. Report equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Process Northwest Medical Homes routine paperwork for billing and EMR protocols.
  • Prepare images for provider/radiologist review and transfer images in PACS system.
  • Process and maintain radiology reports
  • Maintain patient confidentiality
  • Perform other duties as assigned; may include
    • Electrocardiograms
    • Monitoring of vaccine refrigerator and freezer temperatures (daily)
    • Sterilization/autoclave
    • Assist other clinic staff as needed.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of anatomy and physiology to sufficiently pinpoint area for diagnostic imaging. Knowledge of radiology equipment and required testing. Knowledge of safety hazards common to radiology, including equipment, body mechanics and patient movement. Skill in trouble-shooting equipment operation and performing simple adjustments. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public. Ability to communicate clearly.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an AMA approved (two-year) school and meets the requirements for registry by the ARRT. CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Current Oregon license in diagnostic radiography. Healthcare provider level CPR certification required.
