Job Summary:

This position is located at our U.S. Corporate Headquarter location in Gastonia, NC and will manage the operations of the STABILUS Gastonia Warehouse Areas: Receiving, Shipping and RAW Material, related to inbound/outbound shipments and internal material flow, scheduling domestic and foreign freight. Additional activities include the responsibility optimal inventory levels of all key GL accounts (RAW, SEMI and FG), inventory management, and material flow optimization. This person must be able to work with internal partners to collaborate on the productivity goals, on time production and Customer on time delivery. This individual will leverage relationships with internal Material and Production Planning Teams, to meet Production goals including process optimization, customer satisfaction, and SAP data integrity at Production word orders (reporting, data collection, documents, confirmations, and data accuracy).

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manages the daily work activities of Gastonia Warehouse’s personnel to ensure that material movement is timely, cost-effective and in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Manages the inventory level, data integrity, data accuracy and cycle count program for all Warehouses.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner by gathering and analyzing information. Develop alternate solutions and work well within teams to solve problems.
  • Maintains operations within budgetary constraints; analyzes costs and implements cost reduction measures as necessary.
  • Maintains current knowledge of rates, tariffs, Hazmat, import and export regulations for all modes of the transportation industry including air, ocean, ground, and U.S. postal service regulations to insure optimal costs and service.
  • Directly supervises up to 44 employees in the Warehouse departments.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations.

Secondary Tasks:

  • External Warehouse operations for empty containers
  • Maintain forklift, lifting, scale, cranes and all necessary equipment records, usage, maintenance, repairs, damages, leasing terms, optimize the usage at low cost-effective and in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Designs and implements SAP & computer-based operations and reporting systems for warehouse activities and trains other staff in appropriate usage.
  • Maintains Warehouse activity records (including lost/damaged shipments and employee on-site injuries) as required for insurance documentation and internal and external reporting requirements.

Education, Training, Certifications

  • BA/BS in Engineering or Logistics

Experience

  • 4+ years of experience in Logistics, warehouse management, and/or distribution supporting management and on-time shipment objectives.
  • Proven expertise in performance analysis and reporting

Job Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrated expertise on SAP Modules (WH Management, Receiving, Material & Production Planning)
  • Strong problem solving and analytical abilities; competitive analysis research, conduct and manage complex financial models, based on total cost of ownership, Strong research, quantitative and qualitative skills, collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data and information, understands procurement process flows.
  • Demonstrated techniques in negotiations of complex requests for equipment, supplies, and services from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Strong technical skills; spreadsheet, database, report preparation
  • Shipping Skills; understanding of customer and market dynamic of goods and services
  • Project leadership and management skills
  • Communicate effectively in group settings, develop strong relationships
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, concise written presentation

Accountability / Impact of Errors

  • Abiding and practicing safety rules during the operation of any material handling equipment in and around work areas at all times.
  • Must be certified if using material handling equipment per the certification program.

Working Conditions

  • Moderate physical effort required frequently lifting and moving average weight material.
  • Occasional lifting and placement of heavy tooling, sometimes in difficult work positions.
