United Way for Greater Austin is a regional organization, and this role may be responsible for supporting our regional projects and initiatives.

The Community Information & Engagement Coordinator is detail-oriented and is passionate about making vital social service information accessible to various audiences in multiple formats. You will have excellent writing, editing, networking, and communication skills and enjoy building relationships with all levels of community-based organizations, government, and other non-profit agencies throughout Central Texas. The Community Information & Engagement Coordinator is a self-starter with strong time management skills and will assist United Way in managing high-quality community resources through various platforms and help build partnerships and recruit community-based organizations to use and engage with United Way programs. The Community Information and Engagement Coordinator will support organizations in their use and implementation of the 211 and ConnectATX referral platforms and services.

What you’ll do:

  • Build awareness of 2-1-1, ConnectATX, and other United Way programs to the wider community.
  • Ensure that the United Way resource databases are comprehensive, up-to-date and reflective of all the available programs and services available in the Central Texas service region. Adheres to database policies and procedures and criteria established by organizational, state, and national governing bodies.
  • Engage and support community partners and social service providers to keep and develop relationships to maintain up-to-date resource information and participation in a closed-loop navigation system.
  • Provide outreach and education to community-based organizations, attend community events, and create and conduct navigation programs and community resource trainings as needed.
  • Help organizations implement 2-1-1 & ConnectATX and other United Way programs into their workflows.
  • Support frontline staff through resource database, seasonal program, and sector-specific training and respond to staff resource verification and new agency requests.
  • Identify and develop new procedures to address complex navigation and technology scenarios
  • Assist during times of disaster by gathering and disseminating time sensitive, critical information about disaster events.
  • Assist other staff and perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Community Information.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or a minimum of 3 years of full-time work experience in a community engagement, non-profit or library setting
  • Passion for our Central Texas community and desire to make a real impact

  • Considerable knowledge of community resources
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Passion for improving access to information
  • Excellent communication skills and internal/external customer service skills required
  • Ability to work well with diverse populations and in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of the nonprofit sector, community organizations, healthcare, and government entities in Austin, Travis County, Central Texas areas
  • Kindness and a growth mindset
  • Ability to manage priorities and deadlines effectively
  • Organization, attention to detail, and flexibility, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and Google Apps

This position is located in Austin, Texas, and reports directly to the Community Information & Engagement Sr. Manager.
