Internship Program

Banyan’s Internship Program offers students or recent graduates a hands-on opportunity to work in their desired career field. Banyan interns work on real projects that create real change. They are mentored by their supervisor with specialized skills in their area of interest, and participate in project team settings in order to refine and contribute their talents. These projects exercise their current skills and challenge them to learn and grow along the way. Banyan aims to build relationships with young professionals, develop individuals, and create a pipeline of emerging talent and leaders.

Design Internship Objectives

Contribute to the success of our mission of creating change for good by assisting with real projects, not busy work.
Develop real world experience understanding how research and strategy influence design decisions and impact the world.
Sharpen strengths and discover new interests in the design and public health field.
Gain comfortability in navigating a professional workplace while balancing multiple projects and deadlines.
Receive mentorship from their supervisor, as they offer tangible feedback and skill to prepare interns for the next step in their career journey.

Essential Duties

Collaborate with other team members to …

Create and design digital and printed materials that play a role in Banyan’s mission of creating change for good.
Problem-solve cross-disciplinary challenges with a skilled and diverse team.
Concept, plan, iterate and deliver assets for campaigns, web and interactive experiences, infographics, posters and more.
Participate in creative meetings and design workshops to come up with sketches, ideas, and approaches to solve a variety of design-related challenges.
Work and learn alongside a team of multidisciplinary professionals.
Contribute to a culture of collaboration, efficiency, and excellence.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Requirements

A portfolio demonstrating application of design principles
Comfortability in using Adobe programs (such as Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
Curiosity and an eagerness to learn
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate program OR graduated during 2021 – 2024.
Familiarity with the technical skills associated with the role.
Ability to work within and support a team.

Job Details

Job Location

This job will be based out of Banyan’s Atlanta Headquarters in Reynoldstown in the Atlanta Dairies complex. This role requires on-site presence.

Time-Frame

This internship is for the 2024 Summer Semester starting May 20th, 2024, through July 26th, 2024. Dates are adjustable based on the individual’s course schedule.

Compensation

Interns will be paid an hourly rate of $24.00 for 20–24 hours per week.

Benefits

As an intern you will not be eligible for health or retirement benefits. You will be provided with free parking and any other benefit as required by law.
