The R&D Laboratory Specialist II works in a laboratory setting and performs the duties of qualifying and conducts testing to ensure that products are being tested correctly and per industry standards. The R&D Laboratory Specialist II follows prescribed procedures and conducts testing accordingly.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Executes analytical methods and test procedures in accordance with written processes.
• Operating analytical instrumentation.
• Sample Management /intake processes, which include receiving, labeling, and preparing samples for testing.
• Selects and sets up the required lab equipment for tests, experiments, and analyses.
• Assists in preparation and/or review of SOP's, test methods, and protocols.
• Provides laboratory support and is responsible for assisting project leaders with product development projects, and non-clinical laboratory studies.
• Identifies cause of instrument problems and testing failures.
• Follows documented policies and procedures as designated by the company's Quality System.
• Accurately record results and documentation for tests performed.
• Trains other laboratory personnel.
• General housekeeping of the laboratory.
• Maintains, orders, and stocks supplies as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

None

Education, Qualifications and Skills:
• Four-year degree in Chemistry, Biology, or other related scientific fields. An associate degree is acceptable with sufficient experience.
• 2+ years of experience working in a clinical or research laboratory
• Medical device testing experience is a plus
• Analytical test method development experience is a plus
• Ability to work under moderate technical supervision and perform operational tasks independently is required
• Must have knowledge of the GLP and GMP requirements
• Strong verbal, writing, and interpersonal communication skills
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to lift to 20 pounds.

Work Environment:
• This job operates in a manufacturing environment and may be exposed to blood borne pathogens and hazardous material.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to odors, fumes, dust, or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
• The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
• The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
• The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Travel Required: Up to 10%
