A. Basic Purpose and Function:

This skilled manufacturing position is responsible for providing maritime pipefitting skills for repairs to ships and boats in the U.S. Navy, U.S Coast Guard, Military Sealift Command (MSC), and commercial vessels. They must be able to complete and execute the assigned work tasks following regulatory specifications assigned to the vessel.

B. Skills & Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This position will require accessing the ship with the capability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Applicant must be able to:
· Pass a GTAW 6G pipe tests for the following material:
o Copper Nickel with (RN-60, 67, 82 filler material)
o Carbon Steel with (70S2 filler material)
o Stainless Steel (309L,316L,347L filler material)
o Aluminum (5356,5556 filler material)
o Pass a 3G Plate tests with Ceramic backing: GMAW Aluminum (5556 filler material)
o FCAW HY-100 (101tm filler material)
· Work at all height levels (high and low).
· Work in confined and enclosed spaces.
· Work in inclement weather conditions.
· Work non-standard work hours, as required.

C. Education and Experience:
· Applicants with 3+ years of marine pipefitting experience preferred.
· Candidate must be able, work at heights, and in confined spaces.
· Lay out and measure utilizing both the Imperial (English) and metric system.
· Candidates must be able to read blueprints, tape measurers, pressure gauges, levels, and squares.
· Must possess basic math skills.
· Must possess torch and grinding skills.
· Must be U.S. Citizen.
· Must obtain and/or maintain a passport for travel.
· Candidates must be able to pass a qualification test prior to being considered for hire.
· Should have a working knowledge of the Naval Sea Systems (NAVSEA) Standard Items.
· Working knowledge of local NAVSEA Standard Items, specifically Southeast Regional Maintenance Center (SERMC)

D. Major Responsibility (Functions/Duties):

· Must understand and follow Lock Out / Tag Out procedures.
· Must understand and follow Work Authorization (WAF) process.
· Must understand and follow all Hot Work Procedures.
· Assembles and secures pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment, according to specifications, by welding, brazing.
· Modifies, cleans, and maintains pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment, following specifications and using hand and power tools.
· Other duties may be assigned.
