Legal Assistant


Located in Thousand Oaks, CA; VS Media has been in business since 1996 specializing in highly interactive, high-traffic, live video chat websites. Team members constantly face unique challenges that make it fun to come to work every day! 


We are an internet-focused tech company, but please note that we primarily manage adult-oriented content. This position does not involve working with explicit material on a continuous basis, but it does involve regular exposure to adult content and dealings with the adult entertainment industry. Position Overview


The Legal Assistant position reports directly to the HR Manager.  This is a full-time, in-house position. Considering the nature of the position, we are unable to consider remote applicants.

   

Responsibilities


This role has multiple responsibilities that touch every corner of the company including, but not limited to, the following:


  • Contract Management: Update existing contract templates and review contracts across various departments, mitigating legal risks and safeguarding company interests.  Save executed contracts to our Contract Management Platform; calendar deadlines and send reminders on upcoming expiration dates.
  • Trademark Management: Oversee all aspects of the trademark lifecycle including  sending and responding to DMCA copyright infringement notices, sending cease & desist letters, filing WIPO actions when necessary and serving as the primary point of contact for brand protection companies.
  • Litigation Management: Provide administrative support and act as liaison between company and counsel for litigation matters
  • Compliance Management: Ensure all company operations adhere to relevant legal standards and regulations
  • Product Compliance: Ensure that all company’s sites and platforms meet regulatory requirements
  • Manage all company insurance policies, applications and renewals
  • Draft business and legal correspondence
  • Manage and create standard corporate documents when needed
  • Collaborate and assist with HR issues when appropriate


Qualifications & Experience


Qualifications must be commensurate with the role and responsibilities; however some key requirements include:


  • Associate/Bachelor’s degree in law or related field
  • Minimum 3- 5 years of legal  experience required
  • Experience drafting, reviewing and editing various types of contracts.
  • Along with required transactional experience, some experience in at least two of the following areas is strongly preferred: technology law, data privacy law, international law, civil litigation, intellectual property, regulatory compliance, employment law.
  • Strong, clear and concise business communication writing skills, including correct grammar and spelling.
  • Versatile Business Engagement: Capable of engaging across various business domains 
  • Initiative and Analytical Skills: Strong self-starter with the ability to think critically, manage tasks independently, and adapt to new legal and technological environments.

        

Compensation


Compensation includes an attractive 401K. Health insurance (medical, dental, and vision) is also provided. Full details will be made available during an interview.
