As an Assistant Director of Nursing, here’s a big-picture view of what you’ll do:
- Assist with the responsibility to ensure that established processes are in place to screen, hire, orient, educate and retain a sufficient number of hospice employees to meet the care needs of the hospice patients/families.
- Assist the Director of Nursing to ensure that effective processes are in place to provide:
- Adequate and appropriate supervision of hospice employees;
- Employee access to appropriately qualified supervisory staff during all hours of operations;
- Oversight of and assistance to clinical supervisors;
- Ongoing education of hospice employees about: regulations, guidelines, current standards of hospice and palliative care practice, Interim HealthCare Hospice policies and procedures and the quality assessment and performance improvement (QAPI) program and each employee's role in such.
- Ongoing education of hospice employees about: regulations, guidelines, current standards of hospice and palliative care practice, Interim HealthCare Hospice policies and procedures and the quality assessment and performance improvement (QAPI) program and each employee's role in such.
- Provide initial, first 90-day training, ongoing educational opportunities and in-services to hospice employees to meet quality standards, agency policy and all regulatory standards.
- Completes daily audits according to the agency's written QAPI plan/schedule.
- Regularly communicates with the Hospice Director of Nursing and Administrator regarding: compliance with regulations, guidelines, policies and procedures, standards of practice, activity and results of the QAPI program; respond to and resolve complaints; report and analysis of occurrences of sentinel events.
- Actively participates as a member of the IDG.
- Some field work expectations and managers call, and backup call required.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program and active RN license in Louisiana
- Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience in hospice
- Minimum of 3 years of management and/or leadership experience
- Quality assurance experience
- Experience performing quality assurance reviews in a hospice care setting preferred
- CPR certification
- Knowledge of state and federal home health regulations
- Clinical proficiency in nursing specialty, strong communication skills and compassion
