Job description Outreach Coordinator
Position Summary:
Founded in 1991, Friends of Recovery is dedicated to supporting men and women in recovery from alcohol and drug misuse through transitional housing and supportive services to aid in their recovery. The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for promoting and supporting individuals in recovery through mentoring, education, and case management.
Responsibilities
Continue to grow the Kansas Oxford House program through collaboration with chapters and the state board to open New Oxford Houses.
Attend all new house meetings and Topeka and Lawrence Chapter meetings.
Provide community education through presentations to treatment centers, faith communities, individuals, professionals, and the community.
Complete required documentation, reports, and requirements as assigned by Director on time.
Travel is required locally and occasionally throughout the state.
Some nights and weekends are required.
Establish and maintain effective teamwork relationships with the FORA team, Houses, Chapters, and the Kansas Oxford House State Board.
Attend monthly FORA staff meetings.
Communicate effectively with the recovery community, faith organizations, and professional groups.
Develop alumni and volunteer opportunities.
Promote opportunities through social media and website.
Respond to all inquiries within 24 hours.
Coordinate and participate in recovery community events.
Competencies and Qualifications:
- Must have 2 years or more sobriety.
- Evening availability.
- Passion for Recovery.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Exceptional people skills, self-awareness, and a commitment to building relationships.
- Ability to work with and train members and to speak in front of a crowd.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates professionalism and adeptly manages challenging situations with ease.
- Ability to express ideas and facts clearly and understandably, listen to and comprehend what others are saying; demonstrate the ability to work with sensitive and confidential information, communicate effectively with a diverse group of members, volunteers, and staff with a commitment to confidentiality in the recovery community.
- Knowledge of technical computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and social media.
- Initiative-taking to set, attain, and surpass goals with minimal supervision.
- Self-management and assurance; willingly accepts constructive feedback; seeks developmental opportunities; works independently.
- Demonstrate confidence in finding and renting Houses for Oxford Houses.
- Graduate degree/courses in human services (i.e., M.S.W. or addictions counselor) are helpful but not required.
- Graduate degree/courses in human services, experience as a case manager or supervisor in a human service field are helpful but not required.
- Experience with Oxford Houses is required.
- Ability to manage diverse activities independently.
- Initiative-taking and strong organizational skills.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and own a reliable automobile (with insurance).
- Must have organizational skills and attention to detail. Can work on multiple activities to accomplish a goal; uses resources effectively and efficiently.
- Spends time and the time of others on what's important; quickly zeros in on the critical and puts the trivial aside; can quickly sense what will help or hinder accomplishing a goal; eliminates roadblocks; stays focused.

Education:
- Bachelor's (Preferred) or equivalent work experience.

Work Location: In person, with occasional opportunities for virtual work.
