Job Description: Recreational Therapy Aide

Summary: Coordinates and provides daily therapeutic activities for residents of the skilled
nursing facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to
meet department and facility needs.

Interact positively and enthusiastically with residents, their families and fellow
employees.
Plan, gather supplies and conduct therapeutic recreational activities for residents.
Complete participation charting of activities on a daily basis.
Assist in brainstorming activity ideas that address residents' physical, social,
emotional, spiritual and cognitive needs.
Conduct one on one interview with residents to assess interest and personal
preference of activities.
Assist in maintaining, updating and providing progress notes for resident activity care
plans.
Assist with volunteer program for the facility.
Drive company vehicle for resident outings on occasion.
Upholds confidentiality of protected health information.

Job requirements

Education - Requires high school degree or equivalent
Therapeutic Recreation Technician License (Needed within 9 months of hire date-
cost will be covered by Sunshine Terrace)
Experience - Prefer previous experience with geriatric population Requires excellent interpersonal communication skills and willingness to work as a
team.
Requires standard driver license with acceptable motor vehicle record.
