Asphalt Lab Technician

Job descriptionWe are looking for a qualified Lab Technician to undertake a variety of laboratory procedures of technical nature. The position is labor intensive using 5 gallon buckets and shovels to gather materials for testing. The ideal candidate will have experience in working under possibly hazardous conditions (e.

g. chemicals). He/She will be well-trained to maintain safety conditions and will be passionate for doing work that makes things move forward.Position SummaryQuality control testing at the plant to ensure that products (Asphalt mix) are in compliance with current specifications.

Testing of raw materials to ensure Asphalt mixes meet job specifications. Testing of Hot Mix during paving operations in the field (on-site) to ensure the product meets or exceeds minimum job specifications.ResponsibilitiesEnsure all aspects of his/her role are executed in a safe manner. Obeys safety guidelines when on construction plant sites.Perform Lab duties including preparing and running lab formulation trials, testing and data logging.

Perform and document quality control tests in accordance with established local (City and State) and national standards. Conduct quality control tests without supervision and within precision standards established by industry standards both at the Plants and in the field. Maintain a log book of all testing conducted at the lab, plant and on-site.Knowledge, Skills and abilitiesProficient in math, reading and writing skills.Must demonstrate excellent communication skills.Being mechanically inclined is very helpful.Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.Ability to maintain composure in situations and act in a professional manner.Proficient with computers and technology.RequirementsAbility to lift 50 pounds repetitively.Ability to tolerate working outdoors and in all environmental temperatures and weather.Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk on uneven terrain.Ability to work various hours including Saturday and overtime.Being prompt is a HIGH PRIORITY.Due to having to work in the field, the minimum age is 23 years old to be able to be covered by Company automobile insurance and have a good driving record.Must be able to pass a drug test.ExperienceExperience preferred but will train the right person that can meet the above criteria.Job Type: Full-timePay: From $13.00 per hour
