Job Description

We are currently looking for a full time Dental Patient Service position at our Patrick Street location.

Physical Requirements:

The employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, move, stand and walk. The employee occasionally must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus. Excellent aural ability in an environment with multiple noise and activity.

Qualifications:

High school graduate or equivalent. Knowledge of dental terminology and procedures preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Ability to multi-task at the same time prioritizes assignments and responsibilities to ensure compliance with established deadlines and protocols. Ability to operate computer systems and basic competence with electronic health record practice management software.

Basic Function:

The employee is part of the front office team and will be required to perform any and all duties of the front office. The employee is responsible for registration including greeting patients, securing and entering accurate data as required, answering the phones, scheduling and confirming appointments, referrals, obtaining medical clearances, processes release of records to patients and to other facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provides great Customer Service by welcoming patients and maintaining a positive atmosphere in reception area.
  2. Checks-in/out patients - Identifies visit type, updates computer with patient demographics, scans photo ID, secures copies of insurance card and inputs insurance information.
  3. Obtains required forms for visit type and provider and creates visit in EHR. Addresses any additional balance or bad debt balance with patient and try to collect or make a pay agreement. Schedules patient for a return appointment.
  4. Schedules and confirms appointments. This includes entering and updating patient data in the computer system and informing patients of any preparation needed for the visit.
  5. Handles no-shows, cancellations/reschedules and emergencies. Makes any changes necessary and optimizes provider efficiency through appropriate scheduling.
  6. Arranges patient referrals to specialists; communicate referral information to patients and track referral.
  7. Assists in obtaining medical clearances and post-op calls.
  8. Enters all dental transactions.
  9. Reports daily numbers and performs daily close.
  10. Handles all incoming dental calls.
  11. Process release of records appropriately.
  12. Keeps control of flow and upkeep of the front office so that dental providers and auxiliaries can maintain control of clinical floor.
  13. Assists the Billing Department with patient charges and billing questions.
  14. Maintains patient confidentiality through HIPAA compliance.
  15. Complies with FamilyCare policies and procedures.
  16. Attends and participates in staff meetings and requested committees. Participates in Community Health Programs such as health fairs, visiting daycare centers and schools, and Head Start.
  17. Travels as necessary to attend additional training, meetings, and to perform other job functions.
  18. Must be flexible and understand that job duties may change from time to time and may be asked to "help out" in other FamilyCare sites.
  19. Performs additional tasks, as assigned.
