Job Description

Seeking a Converting Machine Operator for an exciting direct hire opportunity offering growth opportunity and competitive pay in Walled Lake, MI. Our client is a manufacturer and marketer of coated, laminated, and converted films, foils, and papers supplied to various markets.

Position Summary
Sets up and operates converting equipment to produce products to determine specifications. Establish and document machine conditions for new products and trials. Perform continuous quality inspections and perform troubleshooting activities as needed. Verifies the accuracy of materials picked against the order documents. Picks, wraps, bags, labels, and boxes finished goods according to documented work instructions and work order documents. Prepares materials for customer shipments, loads, and unloads trucks.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate converting equipment utilizing documented work instructions and work order documents. Produce products to specifications and schedule requirements. Make critical machine adjustments for difficult products and troubleshooting purposes. Tear down equipment as needed and perform operator preventative maintenance activities. Perform operator quality assurance testing and inspections.
  • Pick or receive the order from Converting and verify the products against the order documents. Review work order documents for accuracy. Utilizing documented work instructions and work order documents, print labels, and package products to requirements. Monitors packaging supplies and restocks when necessary.
  • Working knowledge of applicable QMS procedures and problem-solving methods.
  • Prepares materials for customer shipments, loads, and unloads trucks.
  • Document production, process, and quality data.
  • Train personnel in position responsibilities when qualified and authorized to do so.
  • Maintain work area in accordance with all applicable safety, housekeeping, and environmental policies and practices.
  • Performs other related duties as directed by Manager/Supervisors.

Education and Experience

  • Previous machine operating or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong knowledge of forklift operations is preferred.
  • Good PC skills are preferred.

  • Able to operate packaging and handling equipment
  • Manual and visible dexterity.
  • Adaptable to often changing priorities.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.

Working Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, and temperature variations. The noise level is low to moderate.
