SUMMARY:

The Energy Engineer is responsible for design review and commissioning of new projects, retro commissioning of select existing properties, evaluation of building performance via the Parsons Platform data collection system and other methodologies and reporting those findings to stakeholders and Director of Energy Services (DES).

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide (data informed) design guidance and design review to development department.
  • Commissioning of new projects at substantial completion
  • Retro commissioning and evaluation of existing projects
  • Ongoing monitoring (seasonal analysis) of existing buildings/projects using standard testing procedures and dashboards.
  • Track findings from initial commissioning process and ongoing monitoring from discovery through resolution
  • Assist PM’s and local partners with resolution of issues uncovered during Commissioning and ongoing monitoring.
  • Review existing data pool (individually and with DES or EVT) to garner insight on performance of existing building systems – the current focus is on impact of the transition to all electric HVAC and DHW systems.

    3. Equipment performance – efficiency, performance, longevity
  • Translating building systems data into actionable insights to
    1. Optimize system performance.
    2. Inform future building design.
  • Compile formal presentation and reports to brief stakeholders (PM’s, developers, local partners, EVT) on lessons learned and best practices garnered from data.
  • Review industry research on mechanical systems and compare to data gathered from within our portfolio.
  • Assist DES with development of PP backend and frontend as time and skills permit.
  • Management of EN owned Solar installations.
  • Assist DES with validation of datapoints during installation of data collection systems.
  • Perform other tasks as reasonably required by Evernorth management staff.

REPORTS TO: Director of Energy Services

EDUCATION, LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or related field, preferred.
  • PE or CBCP a plus
  • OSHA 10 card- Construction Health and Safety
  • Driver’s license with insurance required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in energy management/energy efficiency, HVAC/mechanical systems design, or HVAC/mechanical systems operations
  • Strong understanding of buildings, facilities, and/or manufacturing systems, building energy use, building construction, and energy analysis techniques
  • Experience with BMS/DDC systems
  • Experience with functional testing/commissioning protocols
  • Experience with statistics and data sets
  • Knowledge of python, Grafana, power BI, or SQL is a plus.
  • Demonstrated and applied understanding of negotiations skills, financial analysis, and business strategies
  • Demonstrated success in handling multiple, concurrent projects as it relates to project management, construction management, and building long-term customer relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint and Office 365.
