Tax Accountant CPA Firm

Job Description:

We currently have a full-time opening for an experienced, professional tax accountant at our CPA firm. We have two locations in both Scottsdale and Mesa. This position is available at either location.

Company Description:

We are a medium size accounting and financial services firm that provides bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, estate/financial planning and tax preparation services. The firm and its Certified Public Accountants are registered with the Arizona State Board of Accountancy. While our clients are primarily based in the East Valley, we also serve individuals and small businesses throughout the metropolitan Phoenix area and the state of Arizona. We also have a handful of small business clients based internationally.

Job Summary

• Prepare and/or review Individual and Business income, payroll, transaction privilege and business personal property tax returns (Thomson Reuters CS Ultra Tax software is currently used for income tax preparation)
• Conduct tax planning meetings for clients (compensation planning, retirement contribution planning, income tax planning, gift tax planning, etc.)
• Process and manage multiple client payrolls; prepare quarterly and annual payroll reports
• Update daily and weekly transactions in accounting software such as QuickBooks Desktop or QBO to record client receipts and deposits, process invoices and prepare checks, including electronic payments.
• Complete monthly reconciliation of bank accounts (bank, credit card, loans)
• Prepare monthly financial statement packages and analysis
• Manage multiple client projects (including direct correspondence with clients)
• Provide project status updates (including time tracking by task) on a regular basis
• Demonstrate a cooperative attitude and effective working relationship

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree, preferably in Business or Accounting
• At least 5 years working experience in a related position
• Professional certifications desired; position would qualify for individuals obtaining work experience as CPA or similar certification
• Corporate and Individual tax return experience required
• Payroll experience required
• QuickBooks, Excel, Word, and Outlook experience required
• Knowledge of general payroll practices using automated payroll systems
• Knowledge of general accounting processes and practices
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to problem solve and critical thinking skills are essential
• Ability to manage multiple projects and clients simultaneously
