Senior Tax Accountant

Role Overview


We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Tax Accountant to join our growing tax practice in Elko, Nevada. This role is ideal for a tax professional with 3–5 years of public tax experience who is ready to take the next step in their career, work closely with clients, and contribute to a collaborative, service-focused firm environment.


The Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for preparing and reviewing a variety of tax returns, assisting with tax planning, supporting client relationships, and ensuring high-quality, timely service. The successful candidate will bring strong technical tax knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities during peak filing periods.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, S corporations, trusts, and other entities.
  • Assist with tax planning and projections for individuals and businesses.
  • Research tax issues and communicate findings clearly to managers, partners, and clients.
  • Identify tax-saving opportunities and support proactive advisory services.
  • Respond to client inquiries and maintain professional client relationships.
  • Assist with notices, correspondence, and other communications with taxing authorities.
  • Support staff development by providing guidance and technical assistance to junior team members.
  • Maintain accurate workpapers and documentation in accordance with firm standards.
  • Manage deadlines and competing priorities, particularly during busy seasons.
  • Stay current on changes in federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.


Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in public tax required.
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field required.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state tax compliance for individuals and business entities.
  • Experience preparing complex individual and entity tax returns.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a professional environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with tax preparation software and Microsoft Office applications.


Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA license preferred or active progress toward CPA certification.
  • Experience with tax planning and client advisory services.
  • Prior experience mentoring or reviewing the work of junior tax staff.
  • Familiarity with multi-state tax issues.
  • Strong client service mindset and interest in long-term professional growth.


Location and Relocation

This position is based in Elko, Nevada. Candidates must be willing to relocate to Elko, Nevada if not already located in the area. Relocation timing and related details may be discussed during the interview process.
