The Birmingham Association of REALTORS® (BAR) is a 4,600 member non-profit trade association location in Birmingham, Alabama, providing advocacy to REALTORS® and protecting homeownership. The Greater Alabama Multiple Listing Service (GALMLS) is a over 6,000-subscriber for-profit technology company providing a listing platform for real estate professionals. 

 

The MLS Training and Support Specialist will be crucial in the handling and front-line support for the MLS (Multiple Listing Service) as well as developing a training schedule for all MLS services. In addition to being responsible for all MLS training and education.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Possess full knowledge of the MLS Rules and Regulations, lock box rules and regulations, and policies and procedures.
  • Keep appraised of new system options, features, and functionality of MLS and SUPRA programs.
  • Ensures all MLS Rules & Regulations are upheld, and members are in compliance.
  • Troubleshoots MLS/SUPRA issues and communicates with Vice President of Commercial and Residential Services to ensure members needs are met.
  • Responsible for all MLS training and education for current members, new members and staff.
  • Track tech calls and issues to determine areas of concern or a need for training.
  • Troubleshoots MLS/SUPRA problems and communicates with Vice President of Commercial and Residential Services to ensure members needs are met.
  • Assist with classroom/board room set up when needed.
  • Provides member training on the use of all MLS services including SUPRA and other 3rd party services.
  • Develops an online training library in multiple formats including video and written help files.
  • All other duties as assigned by Vice President of Commercial and Residential Services.
  • Assist with all other duties as assigned.

 

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Excellent oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills; Strong organizational, time management and multi-tasking capabilities; Expected to work independently and with a team; Expected to exercise good judgement. The ability to read and interpret policies and procedures and regulatory information. Proficient in the use of MLS, SUPRA, Microsoft Office software, in particular, Word, Outlook, Excel and Power Point.

 

Education & Experience

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant MLS experience. A valid driver’s license. Familiarity with Flex MLS, Supra and other real estate technology services provided by the association, a plus. Individual must possess the ability to make oral presentations in both an individual and classroom environment. If applicant is in possession of an Alabama Real Estate license, then that license must be in an Inactive status in order to be considered for this position. 

                                      

Working Conditions:

Primary contacts are with members, management, co-workers, clients and outside vendors; Work primarily in well-lighted, well-ventilated building with moderate levels of noise; Subject to frequent interruptions and, on occasion, hostile or emotionally upset individuals; Expected to report to work on time and work the full established schedule. May work, when necessary, beyond normal working hours, on weekends, and in other positions; Drive locally on company business (including use of personal vehicle; Some travel may be expected in order to stay abreast of industry updates; Generally, involves minimal risk to physical and/or mental health and safety. Drug test and background check are required.
