Job Summary:

BB&N is seeking a full-time (10-month) Assistant/Associate Director of College Counseling. We are seeking a dynamic new member of our five-person team who has experience with school-based counseling and exceptional interpersonal skills that can be used to work toward the goal of creating and maintaining an authentic, inclusive community. We are seeking a candidate who has knowledge of and curiosity about the field of college admissions; strong organizational, writing, speaking, and listening skills; a student-centered approach to the counseling process; and the ability to manage multiple projects to deadline. We are seeking a candidate who is able to support the school’s mission of diversity and inclusion and who has a background that demonstrates an understanding and appreciation of intercultural fluency. We are building a team in which diversity of experiences, backgrounds, and talents are valued in order to work with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and families.


We are seeking a collaborative candidate who will contribute to our student-centered philosophy that focuses on listening deeply to our students as they navigate the college process and who will:

  • counsel an assigned list of approximately 40 juniors and seniors, meet with students and families, and assist students as they select colleges, complete applications, write essays, and manage the financial aid process;

  • write letters of recommendation for their counselees;

  • work closely with faculty members and academic advisors;

  • communicate with all constituencies, including students, families, college admission representatives, and the larger BB&N community;

  • visit colleges, attend conferences, assist with college counseling events held throughout the school year including occasional evenings and weekends, and present to students, families, and the faculty;

  • engage in the wider BB&N school community beyond the college counseling office, including serving as an academic advisor.


Skills and Competencies:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • experience in the college counseling and/or college admissions arena;

  • proficiency in an Apple-based environment, Google suite for education, web-based college process management, Zoom conferencing;

  • experience with MaiaLearning, Slate, or College Kickstart is a plus;


Salary: $85,000.00 - $105,000.00


Compensation for full-time employees includes a 403(b) plan with up to a 10% match of salary and other competitive benefits offerings. Benefits offered to eligible employees include health & dental insurance; commuter benefits; long-term disability insurance, and more.
