About Billings Flying Service

Billings Flying Service (BFS) is a solutions provider for the aviation industry, specializing in CH-47 aerial firefighting and heavy lift services. The BFS fleet of seven CH-47Ds, one UH-60A, and two Bell 206Ls are capable of fighting wildfires by either bucket or tank.

About the Role

The Manager of Information Technology is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day IT operations of Billings Flying Service (BFS). The Manager of Information Technology shall be responsible for sustaining our current IT systems and to develop and implement new systems and processes that align with company direction and future growth. This position provides an opportunity to be a part of a fast-growing aerospace company that encourages employees to be creative, entrepreneurial, and take action to find solutions to problems. This position will coordinate with Executive Leadership to update and develop corporate policy and set strategic goals. This is a full time position in Billings, MT and not eligible for remote or hybrid work.

Requirements

What You'll Do
  • Work to build out an internal IT department, working with outside resources as necessary to stay lean and efficient.
  • Respond to IT needs on a regular basis, serving as the company's all-inclusive IT support personnel
  • Evaluate current and future needs of various departments, assess the IT and security requirements of current and prospective customers, and work with team members to accomplish high level projects.
  • Hire new team members as needed to continue building and growing the IT department.
  • Work to achieve and maintain compliance with CMMC 2.0 Level 3, while maintaining a security first approach.
  • Perform evaluations of current systems to comply with current and upcoming standards such as NIST 800-171 and CMMC.
  • Develop training programs for new software, security practices, data management, etc.
  • Occasionally work outside of normal hours to minimize downtime of company resources.
  • Assists the President and other executives in the development and formulation of long- and short-range planning, policies, programs, and objectives.
  • Formulates and directs the execution of Company policies, establishes IT, personnel, and equipment standard.
Your Required Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and phones systems.
  • Capability to plan and execute companywide software rollouts
  • Be able to provide technical solutions to problems related to both hardware and software applications that arise in office settings. (Desktops, laptops, printers, monitors, servers, label printers, copiers, surveillance equipment)
  • Enjoy hands on problem solving that could involve design, development, management, and architecture.
  • Operational knowledge of network, server, and security equipment, including but not limited to WANs, LANs, internet connectivity, unified communications and remote network connectivity.
  • Be able to work without supervision and make economic decisions based on overall company vision and direction.
  • Enjoy taking ownership of projects from inception to completion, often working hands on to accomplish tasks.
  • Be able to learn new information, skills, and ideas to complete projects and tasks as required.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, schematics, and other technically oriented documents, as well as the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • High level of both verbal and written communication.
  • Work with enterprise software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Windows Server, Quantum Control, and Ubiquiti Unifi.
  • The ability to understand and follow instructions and the ability to concentrate is required
  • Excellent written, verbal, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Requires the ability to handle multiple priorities at the same time and the ability to follow through on all tasks assigned.
  • The ability to get along with others or to be part of a team.
  • Regular attendance at the worksite.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Education and/or Experience
    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) Certification or comparable certification is an asset.
    • Bachelor's degree in Information technology, or computer/technology, or equivalent field; equivalent work experience or combination of work and education may be substituted.
    • A minimum of 1 year of IT management experience in a secure environment is required.
    • Experience with government contract security requirements and other cybersecurity standards is an asset.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervise outside resources such as service providers and software & hardware vendors who help assist in supporting BFS's technology infrastructure.
  • As team members are added to this department, supervisory responsibilities will be required.
