Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Correctional Nurse to join our healthcare team within a correctional facility. As a Correctional Nurse, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to incarcerated individuals, addressing their physical and mental health needs while adhering to safety and security protocols within the correctional environment.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct initial health assessments of incoming inmates to screen for medical conditions, mental health issues, and substance abuse.
• Provide ongoing nursing care, including medication administration, wound care, and chronic disease management, in accordance with established protocols and physician orders.
• Monitor and evaluate inmates' health status, identifying any changes or concerns that require medical attention.
• Respond promptly to medical emergencies within the correctional facility, providing lifesaving interventions and coordinating with emergency medical services as needed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members, including physicians, psychiatrists, social workers, and correctional officers, to develop and implement individualized care plans for inmates.
• Educate inmates about health promotion, disease prevention, and self-care practices to support their overall well-being and reduce recidivism.
• Maintain accurate and confidential medical records, documenting all nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
• Adhere to infection control practices, medication management procedures, and safety protocols to ensure a safe and sanitary healthcare environment for staff and inmates.
• Participate in staff training, continuing education opportunities, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance nursing practice and patient care outcomes.

Requirements:

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of [Insert State].
