Position Summary:

The Healthcare Accounting Advisor plays a critical role in providing financial management and accounting support to Tribal governments and Tribal Health Clinics. This role requires expertise in healthcare finance, budgeting, grants management, and compliance within the context of Tribal healthcare systems. The Healthcare Accounting Advisor will work closely with clients to ensure the fiscal integrity and sustainability of healthcare programs and services while adhering to regulatory requirements and funding guidelines.


Core Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Assists clients with management of financial operations, including budget development, revenue forecasting, expense tracking, and financial reporting for Tribal Health Clinics and related healthcare programs.
  • Assists clients in the development of comprehensive budgets for healthcare initiatives, ensuring alignment with grant requirements, organizational goals, and financial best practices.
  • Conducts financial analyses to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement.
  • Creates financial analysis and revenue and cost projections for healthcare feasibility studies for the expansion of services and potential new services.
  • Provides guidance and support to Tribal Health Clinic staff on financial policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborates with external auditors and funding agencies to facilitate audits, reviews, and compliance assessments as needed.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement, efficiency gains, and revenue optimization within healthcare finance operations.

  • Fast learner, hard-working, and have strong administrative skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong verbal and written skills including a high level of proficiency in Word report formatting, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong working knowledge of Google applications such as Gmail, Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting, with the ability to self-manage time and ensure deadlines are met with efficiency and high-quality
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of project management and time allocation to ensure projects are delivered on time and budget
  • Possess a general familiarity and facility with numbers and the quantification of qualitative inputs
  • Cultural awareness and respect for Native American, Hawaiian Native, and Alaskan Native Tribes

Education And Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field; CPA or relevant professional certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare finance and/or accounting.
  • Grants management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and Tribal funding sources and regulations is preferred.
  • Proficiency in financial management software, spreadsheet applications, and accounting systems commonly used in healthcare settings.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate findings effectively.
  • Knowledge of Tribal governance structures, financial reporting requirements, and compliance standards applicable to Tribal organizations is preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and effectively communicate financial information to diverse stakeholders.
  • Commitment to integrity, transparency, and accountability in financial management practices
