General Summary

The Manager, Materials and Logistics is responsible for managing the department and setting up systems and processes to monitor and control the inventory of manufacturing consumables, die, and piece parts to support internal and external assembly.

Responsibilities

  • Manage raw material ordering, storage, quality, and issuance to manufacturing jobs.
  • Develop and execute replenishment strategies to maintain material availability.
  • Manage material shipping and receiving processes and procedures.
  • Ensure security and accountability of inventory using various systems, including but not limited to the ERP system.
  • Set up or configure internal systems to verify accuracy of material count, location, and information.
  • Set department priorities and manage daily priorities to meet customer schedules.
  • Develop key process indicators and metrics to track progress towards goals and service consistency.
  • Lead department projects based on defined requirements; deploy recommendations and develop best practices; identify scope, schedule, owner, actions, and risk for projects.
  • Lead and coordinate problem solving teams to improve inventory and supply reliability and efficient business practices.
  • Evaluate and implement alternate methods to improve long term storage of raw material without compromising reliability and integrity.
  • Ensure compliance to industry standards: IATF 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, ESD S20.20 and others as required.
    • Work cross functionally across manufacturing teams to improve overall processes, methods, and systems.
    • Manage and develop subordinates skills to improve area operations.
    • Ensure that workplaces are held to corporate, safety, industry, and 5S standards.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in engineering, business management, or related field preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing inventory, procurement, or related functions, with experience in microelectronics, semiconductor, manufacturing, or related operation highly desired; or other equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in a high mix low volume manufacturing environment helpful.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing processes and tools preferred.
  • Skills:
    1. Effective leadership and motivational skills
    2. Effective ability to communicate verbally and in writing across multiple departments
    3. Able to prioritize tasks and resources in accordance with deadlines and goal milestones.
    4. Knowledge of semiconductor assembly, materials
    5. Effective organizational skill
    6. Demonstrable computer skills, with experience in ERP and MES systems helpful
    7. Expressed understanding of high quality standards and strive for continuous improvement
