Mechanical Drafter/Designer
(Contract for Client)

Sigma Design has collaborated with an Aerospace/Telecommunications company seeking an experienced Mechanical Drafter/Designer. This company is committed to bringing fast and affordable broadband to underserved populations across the world. This position is a contract role with an expected duration of 6 months. We are currently look for a Mechanical Drafter/Designer to join their team in Kirkland, WA. This role is In-Office. The pay range is $87,000 - 109,000.

Primary Function:
The Mechanical Drafter/Designer is responsible for performing design and drafting tasks on multiple mechanical engineering projects. The designer/drafter is also responsible for 3D CAD modelling and assisting engineering personnel in daily duties, and should be able to use various techniques to complete assigned projects.

This individual will work within a project team, generally under the leadership of a project manager. The designer/drafter uses experience and education to perform the types of activities which are generally considered within the areas of CAD designing and drafting. Primary duties will be updating CAD models and drawings, BOMs, creating work instruction documents, updating FMEA reports, and documenting design reviews. This designer/drafter is expected to work and communicate well with other team members and leadership as assigned in order to meet the goals of the project, the department, and the company.

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:

  • Create 3D models for existing products from 2D documentation.
  • Create 2D documentation from 3D models.
  • Create and modify Bills of Materials.
  • Provide design and engineering assistance for proposed product changes for performance, production improvement, cost reductions, replacement of obsolete parts, or changing manufacturing methods.
  • Provide assistance to engineering staff as required.
  • Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences.

Education and Experience: (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience preferred
  • Significant CAD experience of 3D and 2D CADs with Siemens NX
  • CAD certification preferred.
  • Experience with Teamcenter PLM preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Requires technical knowledge necessary to complete 3D mechanical design.
  • Strong written and verbal English language communication skills.
  • Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both within and outside one's own work group.

  • Pass a post-offer background verification.


Work Environment
Standard office environment with normal amounts of office related conditions. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation. Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients, or suppliers.
