Job description

Position Summary
Our client is seeking a Production Drafter to create accurate, production-ready drawings that support the manufacturing of modular homes. This role works closely with Sales, Purchasing, Engineering, and Production to ensure all drawings are complete, coordinated, and ready for fabrication. The ideal candidate has strong CAD experience, a solid understanding of residential construction, and exceptional attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Drawing Review & Project Coordination
- Review construction drawings for accuracy, completeness, and overall buildability.
- Identify discrepancies and revise drawings before production begins.
- Coordinate updates with Sales, Purchasing, and Production to ensure all departments are working from the most current plans.
- Verify customer specifications and confirm they are accurately reflected in the final production drawings.
- Review structural components, including beams and headers, to ensure proper sizing and placement.
Production Drawing Development
- Create detailed floor framing layouts that support efficient manufacturing and installation.
- Coordinate framing with plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems to eliminate field conflicts.
- Develop ceiling framing layouts, including truss and joist placement, while accommodating lighting, HVAC, and plumbing requirements.
- Prepare complete electrical layouts showing fixture locations, receptacles, switches, and installation details.
- Produce plumbing layouts for single-story, cape-style, and two-story homes, including drain, vent, and future plumbing provisions where applicable.
- Generate detailed wall and partition drawings with all required framing, blocking, backing, and structural support information.
- Provide complete dimensions and notes to ensure production teams can build each home accurately and efficiently.
Qualifications
- Experience using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar CAD software.
- Knowledge of residential construction practices and building codes.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
- Previous experience in modular, manufactured, or prefabricated construction is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods while creating and reviewing technical drawings.
- Frequent use of a keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment.
- Ability to review detailed drawings and technical documents with a high level of accuracy.
- Occasional walking throughout the production facility to verify designs and support manufacturing operations.
- Ability to lift and carry drawing sets or office materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Comfortable working in both office and manufacturing environments as needed.
