COURT CLERK I - $44,990 - $60,736 ANNUAL SALARY

HIRING BONUS OF $500 UPON COMPLETION OF HIRING PROCESS, $500 BONUS AFTER TWO SUCCESSFUL YEARS OF EMPLOYMENT!

Nature of Work:

Under direct supervision, the Court Clerk processes and maintains complex court files in an accurate and efficient manner, is responsible for the receipt, input, and correspondence related to citations issued by City personnel, and completes all tasks related to the court docket. The position entails frequent internal and external contacts that require considerable public relations skill and strong problem-solving skills. Additionally, the work involves access to confidential information and requires a high degree of ethics and professionalism.

Pre-employment drug screening and background check is required upon conditional offer of employment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Must be able to pass an Interstate Identification Index background check.
  • NCIC certification or the ability to obtain certification.
  • Municipal Court experience or other clerical, secretarial, paralegal or administrative work or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities preferred.

Primary Duties:

  • Preparation and completion of court docket or tasks including but not limited to: Enter conviction and sentencing data, execute complex judgement notes, and enter court documents into electronic files to ensure complete and accurate court records.
  • Process cases that failed to appear at court, suspend driver’s licenses per policy, and process bench warrants.
  • Maintain various databases to track deadlines, cases and other data and provide appropriate notifications.
  • Schedule video arraignments for all arrested persons in custody. Coordinate video courtroom schedule with the Sheriff’s department and processes appropriate documents.
  • Process payments in person, via mail, and assist with online payment process.
  • Process cash bonds and recall bench warrants accordingly.
  • Schedule cases for sentencings, hearings and trials and process documents and subpoenas for the same.
  • Assist judge, prosecutor, attorneys, victims, and defendants during court dockets and trials as necessary.
  • Fingerprint persons as ordered by judge.
  • Process citations issued by City personnel.
  • Balance cash drawer at end of business day.
  • Prepare daily deposit and disburse bonds accordingly.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience using Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using Tyler/Incode court software preferred.
  • Must possess exceptional customer service and public relation skills.
  • Must work the schedule required to perform all assigned responsibilities.
  • Knowledge and ability to follow policies and practices contained in the City Personnel Handbook.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and interpret fluent English.
