Maintenance Mechanic (Full-time Days)

Summary: Perform less complex general maintenance duties and assist with emergence weather conditions.

Reports To: Facilities Supervisor, Director of Facility Services

Titles Supervised: N/A

Shift/Hours: 1st Shift; 37.5 hrs./week

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Make daily rounds in an efficient and orderly manner while observing plant mechanicals and building structure. Carefully clean all commercial capacity dryers in the laundry areas on a daily basis.

2. Work from scheduled orders and verbal instructions to paint assigned areas. Make a list of supplies required for individual assignments.

3. Refinish walls, ceilings, woodwork, sills, doors, furniture and other surfaces.

4. Protect surrounding areas and furnishings with drop cloths and clean surfaces before painting.

5. Work on ladders and scaffolds as required to reach overhead areas. Place fresh paint signs, barriers and other warnings when working in populated areas. Clean equipment used.

6. May be required to mix, tint and stain finishes before application.

7. May perform related work including, but not limited to, applying decals, transfers, painting signs, applying wallpaper and/or paper hangings, glazing, plastering, etc.

8. Perform jobs as required by work orders in a safe and timely manner including security coverage for building entrances.

9. Perform snow removal.

10. Assist in all emergency matters ranging from fire safety procedure to on call service for extreme weather conditions.

11. Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or GED Trade School preferred or knowledge of the trade's equivalent to 4 years vocational school training

Licensure: CT State Motor Vehicle Driver's License

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to handle multiple demands and deadlines; Ability to read and communicate effectively.
