The College of St. Scholastica is an independent private college that is home to 3,512 graduate and undergraduate students in 91 programs throughout three schools – the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Health Professions, and the Stender School of Leadership, Business, and Professional Studies. Job Description

The Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) is an exciting, new degree program within the Department of Medical Science at the College of St. Scholastica. The DMSc Program Director is responsible for and facilitates faculty engagement around critical program functions such as recruitment, admission, and retention practices and procedures, ensuring a successful program.

Required Qualifications

  • Hold PA degree

  • Doctoral degree (DMSc, DHSc, PhD, EdD) at the time of hire

  • Demonstrated project management experience

  • Demonstrated ability to launch new major initiatives

  • Experiences with Professional leadership

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with diverse colleagues, students, and stakeholders

  • Demonstrated college or university‐level teaching experience

  • 3-years of graduate teaching experience

  • Experience in contemporary Academic graduate program development, including the development of online educational curricula

  • A record of publication in the scholarship of teaching and learning and/or research


Key Results/Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include teaching within the Department of Medical Science; advising to meet diverse student needs; assisting in recruitment and admission activities; engaging in scholarly activity relevant to areas of interest and/or expertise that contributes to the Department scholarly agenda; and attending Department, School and College events and performing service through committee assignments at the Department, School and College level. The successful candidate will contribute to work with diverse populations and will advance the Benedictine Values of the College.

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Admissions departments to develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive recruitment and retention strategies
  • Facilitate faculty recruitment
  • Collaborate with associated College programs to coordinate shared curriculum
  • Facilitate faculty engagement around critical program functions such as recruitment, admission, and retention practices and procedures, ensuring a successful program.
  • Coordinate the admission to the DMSc program, which includes candidate application review, communication with students, record maintenance, and collaboration with other College departments
  • Provide academic advising and mentoring to students in program
    • Monitor students’ academic progress and administration of student assessments
    • Manage course exemption and waiver requests and certification for graduation in collaboration with Registrar's office
    • Facilitate Capstone Project advising
  • Advise Department Chair on course demands and scheduling each semester and revise and update the College Catalog content, including all curricular changes, new course proposals, and old course deactivations.
  • Collaborate with the Department Chair to coordinate with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness regarding annual assessment reports and facilitate academic program reviews.
  • Other duties as assigned
